    If you need to use parentheses to explain the joke, you failed at telling the joke.

    The whole point with these sorts of memes is they’re supposed to be relatable enough and easy enough to grasp with the added context of the image.

        To add to your point. It also, in this case, subverted my expectations of what the joke was going to be. As the standard one just implies the therapist is taking notes because you’ve done something weird. The expectation is subverted, as the therapist is just stealing the joke instead. Subverted expectations are often a key part of humour.

          Yeah, it’s not really explaining the joke here, but rather the actual punchline.

        I don’t think you should call people acoustic (It’s a placeholder word for a more offensive word, giving it the same original meaning).
