Same. I don’t need people to make excuses for me, I’m lazy as fuck. If I was rich, I’d hire a maid and personal chef.

And I think by unormalizing lazyness we are not making it any better.

Sure, some are chronical/mentally ill etcetc and those shouldn’t be called lazy. But many are also just lazy sometimes and that’s ok too.

I’ve struggled with this so much ever since I got chronically ill. I had to go through years of everything from radiotherapy to surgery to autoimmune bullshit that has a good chance of killing me in the next 10-20 years, and it’s left me feeling like a lazy fucking blob. I used to be very physically active etc etc whereas now I barely have the energy to leave my apartment, and I still have to fight the thought that I’m just being lazy. Instead of, you know, actually sick and missing an internal organ

Struggle with this with ADHD as well. The thing I always think about is:

“If I were being lazy shouldn’t I be enjoying it?”

This lazy stereotype is always somebody laying on a hammock chillin’ while everyone else is working. Not someone confusedly going “What do I need to do? What should I do? What needs doing? How do I do it? Why won’t I just do the thing I’m supposed to be doing?!”

I figured if I were actually lazy, my games backlog would be much smaller by now…

I do think some folks just hate making any kind of effort, but also that’s probably due to one of the reasons listed above, and they need to be shown their efforts can actually mean something.

Oh, I’ve definitely got some mental illness in the picture, but I’m pretty sure I’m also lazy.
