There’s a story every couple years that the FDA has banned them. But I guess I never see the follow up where it doesn’t work.

I guess to some extent. I have a bunch of accounts across instances and sh.itjust.works is the only one that didn’t have excessive down time or other problems when I first came over so I kept using this account. I haven’t touched the other ones in a while.

So I definitely appreciate them living up to their name. I wouldn’t leave without a good reason. But if it started being down all the time I would probably leave. I guess that’s pretty soft loyalty.

News hysteria created feedback loops that drove a lot of shortages. At first, people are stocking up more than they would before because things are weird. Similar to a hurricane or blizzard. The news started reporting shelves were EMPTY and you probably are never going to get toilet paper again. People start panic buying because they’re scared. Or because they think they can take advantage of the situation and make money. This drives more news stories about shortages which drives even more fear and panic buying.

Probably Covid related supply chain issues factor in as well. I’m somewhat skeptical it was the main driver since the problem seemed to go away as soon as the grocery store started limiting how much an individual could buy.

The reality is that all 3 are full of micro plastics. And there’s some overlap in the Teflon lead generation. And non stick material is still not all that great.

Really, the only problem we’ve solved kinda is lead, unless you’re poor.

The hop part is a bit more interesting. The strong beers of the time weren’t enough to keep the beer from getting infected. However, hops are a natural preservative. The oils have antibiotic properties. They were initially used as a preservative for weak British ales and the taste was a side effect but not necessarily the desired effect. When they had trouble shipping their beers across the world, they would pack the beer full of hops so it would make the trip. Eventually, Brits in India developed a taste for the bitter beer that was shipped to them and a beer style was born.

There’s a guy on Etsy who 3D prints single dose hoppers. The top is made of silicon and it’s a bellows, you give it a few presses and it blows the grind stick in the chute out. It’s great, the only thing I dislike about the grinder is how fast it gets clogged.

The title OP gave the post makes it seem like the companies in the image are still doing business in Russia but I’m pretty sure all the companies in the image are the ones who left. There’s a few comments that are confused about it.

I doubt it was intentional or malicious but it is misleading at a glance.

I live in a small town next to a giant pile of gravel lol It’s probably not free. In my case, the owner of the property was planning on putting in a gravel driveway to a old house he was going to fix up but then never did. It’s been abandoned for years, no idea what’s going on now. But he owns the gravel and taking it would be theft. Although I could probably get away with it if I was in a desperate gravel situation.
