Obviously the team that won had better people who were praying even harder.

TheSambassador@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Discord going public. Plz help a future refugee.English13·2 months agoCalls and easily sharing my screen are 90% of my use cases for Discord. The entire appeal of it initially was that it was a more functional Ventrilo with both text and voice channels. Hopefully something FOSS gets further developed by the time Discord completely shits the bed.
That’s fair, but for awhile that setting only worked on desktop, and various apps still may or may not respect the setting. I’ve never encountered someone who enjoys this being on be default.
3rd party can’t really gain power with first past the post. We have to implement ranked choice or approval voting before meaningful 3rd party choices are viable.
You’re right, if you alone can’t fix everything, there’s really no point to trying.

First time I bought condoms, I also bought goldfish crackers.
Sure … but a single donut?
Honestly the process for getting reimbursed is annoying enough that I’m only going to do it for stuff that’s more than $10. I don’t need to be reimbursed often though
It’s updated a bit and looks great! Worth watching.
I think that this is making fun of the people who were upset at Ariel being black in the remake. The people this is making fun of don’t care about recasting race until it’s done from a white character to a black one. It’s pointing out hypocrisy.
Isn’t that the status quo? I guess it’s not really fathers to daughters, but most women I know went through some amount of “here’s how to be a good wife” lessons from their mothers or family. I think women get a lot of “traditional gender roles” training that’s mostly about being caretakers.
Usually people putting forth this kinda “women should learn how to care for their man” attitude are coming from a conservative “traditional family values” position.
Really, we should be teaching people how to ask about and learn the needs of their partner, and how to determine your own needs and communicate those to your partner. Basic emotional intelligence stuff. It doesn’t have to be gendered at all.
Reno is an awesome town now, you should check it out.

Do you wash only a single fitted sheet or duvet cover at a time? Because the problem still happens when I wash my fitted sheet and normal sheets in the same load.
I’m pretty squarely an introvert, but it feels like nowadays I have to do all the dragging. It’s so hard to find other people who are willing to do the inviting.

TheSambassador@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Hate these with every ounce of my beingEnglish6·1 year agoI’m convinced that big corporations contract it out to the cheapest “production” company that they can find, and they only offer the training so that they can say that they did to shield themselves from potential liability.
Turning off private tabs fixed the issue for me. I have no idea what the setting does though.
TheSambassador@lemmy.worldto Memes@lemmy.ml•Happy Labour Day to people who are not landlords.English709·2 years agoSo while I generally agree with your sentiment, there are some obvious ways that sometime could be an ethical landlord.
What if you have a house that’s too big, so you convert a floor into an apartment? You’re adding to the number of housing units available. Should you be forced to sell a portion of your house/building to whoever wants to live there? Or should you be able to rent it out to someone at a reasonable rate? Do we want rules that discourage people from potentially adding units to the market?
I feel like the “all landlords are evil” narrative is way too simplistic, and that simplistic view turns off people who would otherwise support reasonable limits on landlords and housing ownership. Like, it’s obvious that we need limits and taxes on people who own multiple properties, and it’s obvious that there are companies that exploit renters and drive up prices, but it’s all more complicated than just “landlords evil lol”.
For real. It’s so frustrating how someone will just text “let’s hang out” or “let’s play games tonight” and it’s always me who has to go the extra step of “OK sure how about 7?”
