Mississippi law allows ballots that are postmarked by election day, if they’re delivered within 5 business days. They can’t calculate the final count until the 10th.

I’d rather them take the time it needs to get it right, whoever wins, than to rush and have to do recounts over and over. Keep in mind that many doing this work are volunteers. Let them do the job.

Mississippi doesnt actually have a method for recounting elections. Ballots are destroyed immediately after they’re counted. Whatever is determined is the only outcome, this is also why tallying takes so long

Well that’s not suspicious or prone to encouraging nefarious actions at all.

Mail-in ballots that were postmarked by Election Day, per state law.

With the margins this close they might actually change the vote. The delay is reasonable. Frustrating, but reasonable.

With all the rhetoric around mail in ballots, I know I would try to get mine in before election day. I was about to finish typing when I realized I’m the type of person to forget to put it in the mail box until election day.

Different countries/states count votes in different ways. Some countries have modern (doesn’t mean digital) ways of voting and get the results in hours. Other countries (like US) are stuck in XIX century and seem to like it that way.
