I thought that was against the fediverse laws.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How do you play/stream media from your server during offline hours?English
1·2 years agoWhat? I’m confused by the question the OP asked if it’s just automatically that way.

3·2 years agoI’ll prolly give it a shot at some point. I bought lifetime plex long before jellyfin was a thing. Is there an experience similar to plexamp? It’s too good.

42·2 years agoPlex allows this as long as you set whatever devices local IP on the allow without authorization list. I also know that plex just gets shit on the fediverse. Jellyfin doesn’t have local allowance baked in? I’ve never used it.

2·2 years agoIf you know the url, that can be put into the search on instances too.

1·2 years agoWell, I would opt for a search through Kagi using the fediverse lense. But you basically edited your post on how it would need to be done otherwise And answered your own question. There’s also https://fedi-search.com/
The post ID isn’t universal when you’re putting it in another instance search bar. You have to use the entire URL of the originating instance.

11·2 years agoAre you asking on how to search through your own local data from a instance you took offline?
Edit: this reply looks dumb now that the original post has been edited.
willya@lemmyf.uktoLemmy Support@lemmy.ml•What are the conditions for the Lemmy post to be distributed to other Lemmy instances?English
3·2 years agoThe condition is only that one of your users has subscribed to said remote community.
The clips they half watch on the internet and what their friends think.
Yeah sorry I must have skimmed right over that. This is only possible backing up everything and reusing all the data while also using the same domain. When I upgraded servers I just cloned the drives then swapped my domains to the new IP.

Decently priced at the bulk shops too.
