I saw this Documentary, The Princess Bride, where they went to the Fire Swamps. Was really oversold to me as a kid.
Fair enough. Allegory can still be sexual though. Layers.
Starfucker and other songs would be considered quite horny. But it’s always more “rage sex” than sexy sex. So I mostly agree. Except when I don’t ;)
Big Naked. Nine in Nails. Marylin Manson. Our Lady Peace, Alanis Morissette. There’s quite a few that could be both. But, alas, this is only a two axis graphic ;)
Also, how to tell I grew up on Canadian radio…
Yeah, no kidding one of the most depressing songs ever: https://youtu.be/T69Yk6IccL0 – The end is the Beginning is the End (Batman and Robin soundtrack)
Also one of the best tracks ever.

Troy@lemmy.cato Explain Like I'm Five@lemmy.world•ELI5 Why doesn't Canada just turn off all the power it supplies to the states? Would that not show the Cheeto who is actually in charge of most infrastructures?English46·1 month agoI’ll add a few.
Canada supplies power to a lot of states, yes, but last year Canada was actually a net importer of energy (not necessarily electricity) from the US. And we could actually end up worse off.
Canada mostly supplies power to blue states: Minnesota, New York, etc. At the moment, we are not aligned in opposition to those states, and it would hurt them the most. It may actually set them against Canada, and we need all the allies inside the US that we can get. See also: Canadian retaliatory tarrifs tend to target red states.
Finally: it might be used by the US as rhetoric to justify actual war. So caution is required. This is as close as we can get to the nuclear option on trade (embargoing resources), so it should be held in reserve as long as possible.

Sundog is on both sides, just using the steam to tone down the brightness of the sun for higher dynamic range, to allow the colours of the sundog to photograph better.
It’s not really steam either – it’s a sign of really cold air causing the natural gas furnace exhaust to condense rapidly. The exhaust wouldn’t normally be visible.
It’s quite cold here. Currently -20°C on the ground and certainly much colder as you go upwards.
This is like some sort of black mirror ad
Everything else went up due to tariffs
The tops of the clouds on the night side of Venus are about -45°C. So it’s not actually glowing like the image implies. But in infrared, you can reprocess the colours to make a delightful image like the above.
Well, I know you’re implying the greenhouse gases will kill us all. And that might be true, but probably not in ten years.
Depending on the carrot, the skin can be significantly more bitter. And sometimes peeling can be quicker than trying to scrub dirt out of particular lumpy carrots.
YMMV
Not as immersive but we have this little sound activated animatronic monster adjacent to the door, which typically goes off while they’re yelling trick-or-treat. One little girl ran off screaming this year. One girl tried to make friends with the monster, attempting to shake its hand…
Counterpoint: Sometimes you can kickstart a community that you want to see just by consistently posting content. !science_memes@mander.xyz is my favourite example – it was essentially one person who created that entire community (and it’s since been diversifying somewhat – at least there’s traction in the comments).
But to reinforce your point: I did !spacemusic@lemmy.ca and tried to do the same thing, but it sort of petered out. But it’s way way more niche.
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Just engage with the content you like and build some places for content you’d like to see.
Excerpt from Oryx and Crake, by Margaret Atwood:
“This is the latest,” said Crake.
What they were looking at was a large bulblike object that seemed to be covered with stippled whitish-yellow skin. Out of it came twenty thick fleshy tubes, and at the end of each tube another bulb was growing.
“What the hell is it?” said Jimmy.
“Those are chickens,” said Crake. "Chicken parts. Just the breasts, on this one. They’ve got ones that specialize in drumsticks too, twelve to a growth unit.
“But there aren’t any heads…”
“That’s the head in the middle,” said the woman. “There’s a mouth opening at the top, they dump nutrients in there. No eyes or beak or anything, they don’t need those.”
Nothing active. But even Santa Lucia is a former volcano (about 15 million years old).
