A little unfair since Chevron is often 50 cents to a dollar more, but it’s still pretty bad. 5.60 a gallon at the cheapest. We still tax our gas though.
Shitposter while I tend to two babies. Maybe when I have my life back, I’ll help us get a few more niche communities back?

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•You after telling your friends for the 179004th time today that they should just stop complaining about Windows 11 and just use Linux
2·11 days agoWeirdly, nothing so far with my latest swap has needed extra attention, but having to manually mount drives every boot (or adjust the config) might confound a former Windowsian. At least with my distro, anyway.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•California father arrested after repainting crosswalk, adding stop signs near children’s parkEnglish
5·11 days agoHuh, always weird when I see local news on my Lemmy feed.
FYI, South Bay is especially car brained, even my LA. We have a major refinery, some car manufacturer HQs, and I’m pretty sure more mechanics per capita than most of Cali. Long history with the automotive industry going back to the founding of a lot of these little cities.
It’s a shame, too. The beach cities are lovely places to walk and somehow have terrible biking and public transportation infrastructure. The people there can be a bit entitled, though (and it’s it just me or did this guy do it right outside his fucking home? Lol). But I don’t know a solution, it’s practically every other day someone is mowed down 'round here by a muscle car, and the areas East of El Segundo have a lot more waking families since we can’t afford cars.
A little hope, though. I saw they mentioned the Sawtelle area too. I used to live there, and not only did they 180 on that case, Stoner Park is now surrounded by mini roundabouts. So change does happen after this type of thing, and their jurisdiction is LA itself, not a smaller city in a city.
Fake, since real Minecraft fans very much were not into it. Unless they’re kids, I guess.
Don’t worry, Riolu doesn’t get their weakness to fire until after their evolution! Plus, he’s wearing his protective Focus Sash, so he’ll be fine (assuming he doesn’t get severe oil BRNs)!
Real question while we shitpost; if they require a 4 second video can you just wear a disguise for fun? I’ve got neat prosthetics I don’t get to use often.
And if so, which aspects are best to cover up? Bushy unibrow? Demon contacts? Pointy ears? Crazy nose? Forehead ridges?
Not just likes but also… whatever threads calls a retweet. What human being freely echoes an advertisement? Lol

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•I am an American. I used to be proud of my country. Now it feels like a turd circling the drain. Is there anything going on behind the scene that America is actually doing good in?
125·23 days agoNationalism tells you your nation is what to be proud of, but that’s dangerous and manipulative.
Instead, focus on the people. You can be proud of the people who are protesting, people who are running secret grocery runs for people hiding from ICE, people promoting progressive or scientific thought in threatened educational spaces, and so on.
There are still plenty of us left in the US, some against our will, and you can still be proud of them for still trying when so many others have given up.
We all know what happened to Lincoln’s eagle-griffin but what ever happened to his sword, the Emancipator? He didn’t have it on him during his assassination, but it wasn’t at the White House either…
Even more true if you’re one of many who remove shoes in the house. Shoes are an outside thing only and if they’re the only thing you have on, something has gone tricky terribly awry.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Avocado. Is it really so untasty or I am doing something wrong?
2·1 month agoTo be fair, natto lost me as well, lol. It’s an acquired taste I didn’t grow up with. But my wife and kids love it so… cheap eats.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Avocado. Is it really so untasty or I am doing something wrong?
12·1 month agoWeird Asian hack for ya, Avo + soy sauce on rice is weirdly very good. Wife does that sometimes, sometimes with other stuff like natto.
Hehe, ok but I’m not sure what the intermediary is between those. I have much better options that are cheaper and tastier, at least for now (although 8 dollar chicken burritos are up to 12 now after obvious 2025 reasons… sigh).
No, you’re right. Chipotle isn’t the highest grade food but there’s a reason it’s in a category above, say, Taco Bell. It’s servings are a little big, but it’s not unhealthy per se, except some of the more gimmicky items like “queso”, lol.
They do have a bad rep, but the hoopla about it giving you diarrhea is probably more because it sits out too long and/or spicy; fast casual is basically pre-prepped lower tier casual chain restaurant food (e.g. Olive Garden, Applebee’s, or whatever).
Reminds me of something that’s been on my mind for several days now. I spotted in my rear view mirror a driver and their passenger having a conversation in sign language while driving.
I never once thought about it.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•I never see them because they aren't legally allowed on the road.
43·2 months agoI’m near SpaceX in CA and see plenty of men in them because SpaceX purchased a bunch for company cars when Tesla couldn’t sell them.
Also it’s really weird to see like, 8 of them in one place.
I mean, it is still a whole course of civics but you sorta have to be paying attention in school. It’s also usually late high school and your average tiktok user may not have graduated yet. Kinda makes sense since you’re hitting voting age at that point.
Plus international audiences, although if I’m being honest I think they have better odds of knowing what the constitution is.
I’ll concede it’s good at pizza reheats. We don’t do that often but it’s much better than microwave and about the same quality but faster than oven.
Depending on the size, it might not be that useful for secondary dishes but that’s mostly cause mines just slightly too small for my standard casserole dish. At some point it’s just a mini convection oven, which I have used before for Thanksgiving and it’s admittedly a godsend (although I’d only borrow it. I very much do not have the space for one).
Mines also both sides heat, but I think it’s a little different still as only one side will have hot metal pressed against the bread. You get a little different taste/texture with both sides pressed against the hot metal. I suspect it’s also more energy efficient, too. Suffice to say it’ll still be S tier for the standard toast case.

It is hopeless…
Because it’s the fucking red coins BEFORE you get the that star so you need some fancy jumps to get it and no matter how hard I try I can’t seem to do it and ugh I’m never gonna get that sweet RA badge-- hopeless.
