the insulting thing out of it is I paid for his beers! he KNEW I was getting laid off and didn’t say “hey…maybe I should be paying for these” nope, gladly accepted my money. He tried to contact me after the fact and I just blocked him.
I remember years and years ago when I still a regular employee I got into work one morning to find I no longer had access to any git repos. nothing. Well already knew the reason right then and there. I usually got in before everyone else so by the time people were coming into the office I was packing my stuff up to leave. People were all “where are you going?” I said “well I either got fired or laid off so I’m leaving, I’m not sitting through a bullshit meeting telling me why I was laid off”
wiped the laptop, wiped my externals, walked out, went and sat in a coffee shop to revise my resume. I got a call like an hour later asking me where I was and why I didn’t attend the meeting I was apparently schedule for. I replied with “you laid me off” few minutes later they email me back saying they’ll just send my ROE and last paycheque in the mail and then proceeded to explain why I and a few other devs were laid off. I didn’t bother reading the rest of it.
Then I decided to become a freelancer and never looked back. best decision I made.
What REALLY annoyed me about the whole thing was I thought I was good friends with the IT guy that set up access to everything, he was the one that revoked my access the night before and didn’t tell me. I was literally having a beer with him that night and he never said a word. out of everything that hurt the most. never spoke to him again.
any company that advertises unlimited PTO just don’t bother applying. you’ll never get that PTO and there’s nothing to pay out when you quit. add to the fact that they’re clearly saying “we prefer to hire idiots”

it’s always so washed out, every. single. AI. IMAGE. regardless of style they all look washed out and flat. there’s zero vibrant colors for anything. One of them just gorged on this “trend” and all the rest of them followed suite eating the slop.
It’s gotten to the point now where you don’t even need to look at the inaccuracies with something, you just need to look at the colors to tell if it’s AI or not.
I’ve seen a very similar print out when installing/loading Arch for the first time.

as someone who lives in Toronto I mean…you really don’t need an extensive subway network here. We have a lot of buses and several lines of street cars (trollys, trains on the road, whatever you call them where you live).
So what’s being shown here is ONLY the subway network. it doesn’t show the vast street car lines would would make it look A LOT like the China photo.
I have, I mean you kinda HAVE to budget what little you bring in to ensure you don’t end up on the streets. and it’s not even about saving. saving was just a pipe dream. budgeting was just to ensure rent got paid, bills were paid, and I was able to eat sometimes.
I know people who make 6 figures and can’t/won’t budget and most live paycheque to paycheque or are absolutely broke just before their next direct deposit. I worked with a guy that made 6 figures and all the time just before payday he’d bum me for cigarettes or ask if I could buy him a coffee or a sandwich cause he had NOTHING. And this was a guy that would always have the latest tech shit, videogames on day one of release - like all of them, nice clothes, etc. just spend, spend, spend.
I’ve known more people who SHOULD be well off that don’t budget and are constantly broke than people who make minimum wage and are surviving.

as far as libreddit…yeah it can be hit or miss. safereddit.com is generally pretty decent and hasn’t gone down too much, only issue I have with that is videos are very slow to play if at all.
