Agreed, the only functionality that should be active if it’s connected to the internet is sending an alert of a failure. Sadly, no company that has a way to serve you ads will choose not to use it… 😮‍💨

The only good reason I can think of for a fridge to be connected to the internet is to alert you to a compressor failure when it happens so you can get the food out of it.

Edit: I should have clarified that I meant consumer fridges, which I install for a living and so my brain defaulted to that. Commercial systems definitely need monitoring of some sort, and network access is the best way to centralize that.

I didn’t sleep last night but it wasn’t my choice. I just didn’t get tired until about a half hour before I had to be up. Needless to say, today fucking sucked.
