More like reasonable term limits.
Two terms for each position seems reasonable so you can be asked to continue or asked to leave. This allows you to run on a policy, implement it and then fix it or things that need to be tweaked and then get out.

The problem was that my boss was a title hopper and needed to fill his old position and he did it with yes men who wouldn’t stand up for anything. Meant that these yes men were also not the greatest at doing the rest of the job either.
They were expecting me to just do Hero Engineering by not objecting, put in more time and fill on the gap when theu couldn’t do their job. Was the first time in 20 years i ever was reprimanded, been praised at everything else I’ve done. So i knew at that point this was just a toxic place to work.
The last place i worked at they started pushing the same type of cringe. What made it worse was the PM/BA wasnt actually writing stories. One sprint I had 4 stories with just titles and “TBD” on the description. His boss was mad that my productivity was low when i couldnt do the work they couldn’t describe.
Haha did the same thing years ago to make the code look like free flowing text.
I always have written my dates this way. It’s one of those things that always seemed weird to me and then when I realize that only in America do we write our dates MM-DD-YYYY /facepalm
Back then I was doing work that required way more brain power than now and had extremely more ridiculous schedules than now. And I’m WFH on a team that has no desire to go back to the office.
I think the huge misconception is that jobs that require specific tasks that don’t fit well in WFH means the entire job doesn’t fit. Collaborative tasks many times require in office interactions and whiteboarding. But I’d be willing to bet that out of a given week that isn’t your entire 40 hours.
Honestly I think a lot of this push is that we are finding manager roles are unnecessary. With collaboration more difficult it has become more effective to go right to the source rather than the trickle down method we used to use.
That was always an issue I ran into. In a given month I might have two of three days that my brain just didn’t work. I’d stills go into the office and be absolutely unproductive. But to my boss, being in the office was the important thing. As I only got ten days of PTO a year including medical leave and business holidays I was never going to waste it on a mental health day. Was far better to sit at my desk and pretend like I was productive.
Worked in a resort area and some big church group showed up and tipped using money like that. Like a party of 20 people type group.
Everyone started calling around to establishment saying if you get a group of 20 and they all look like Jesus folk tell them to leave.
Maybe it was just me but Musk has never seemed like someone who actually understood tech. Just a rich guy who buys up other’s work and talks a big game. I knew the second I heard he bought Twitter it was going to crash and burn. He’s doing it way faster than I thought possible.
Of course he will eventually say this was all on purposes and not that he is crap at business and tech.
Think that issue gets resolved quickly as no one really has the power in tenure anymore. If everyone only has a few years a cycle or two of stalemates will eventually lead to both sides having to work together or try and win the entire house.
