Maybe i can think your meme is dumb while also agreeing that the people pictured are libs that I don’t like. I just don’t like dishonesty and your meme is just a dishonest smear instead of something with legitimate or logical basis. You’re crowing about how societies self-govern while under invasion and idk how anyone other than fellow leftists are supposed to glean any meaning from this. How would your society select its leaders and continue to operate under such circumstances? I’m noticing the lack of any ideas being expressed here other than “liberals bad”, which we all already know. You’re right and more than fair about it. Thanks for a mature response. I definitely get games catering to their communities and those communities, for the past decade or so, have been on Discord in droves… So it only makes sense. It just makes the world a little bit more painful for the people who don’t want to use Discord. And I definitely also get that alternatives (Matrix, a dedicated wiki or web documentation, etc) might take more work for a dev to set up… I guess I just miss when the web felt more open and usable.

I am a big fan of that flag.

The thing is, some of us really care about ethics outside the scope of just what happens with the source. Is documentation and knowledge not just as important? Should our community not care about privacy? What do you think the “F” in “FOSS” is all about?

No real annoyances on either the desktop site or the mobile website tbh. I don’t even need a client for my phone because the mobile site is that good - which I wish I could say the same about for other social media apps/websites who’ve intentionally kneecapped their mobile web UI to force users onto their app. Glad Lemmy is fully accessible and usable in a smartphone’s web browser, I hope it stays that way.

While I do agree that their focus should absolutely be on the browser, I do actually really like that they offer a paid Wireguard-based VPN with endpoints in dozens of countries. I think that makes sense for them, given their mission and everything, and actually gives them a revenue source.
