Transparency mode is not nearly the same as open headphones. Its fine for a quick conversation but isn’t good at providing awareness of your surroundings. It has its place and is a great feature, but it’s not going to cut it for people looking for open headphones.

Don’t get me started on low quality professors/classes. I went back to get my BS after getting an associates a few years prior and the teachers were much worse and the classes were teaching less than I learned at community college. Very infuriating. I did the minimum to pass a class just so I could leave a review ripping into the teacher/class.

I still have the guide that came with Earthbound. I read that thing through so many times as a kid. I think my parents bought it new on clearance because it didn’t sell and I was having a rough year.

Still remember the night I got it. It was a nice summer night, there was a block party on our street. My parents wanted to stay later than usual but let me go home to play. The adults were only one house over, but it felt like growing up getting to be home alone.

That opening sequence felt like it could have been my life in a different reality. It took a few years for me to finally beat it , but it felt like growing up with the characters in a way.

I feel the guidebook had a lot to do with my memories. It was so cool how it was presented as newspapers from towns along the way and it being a tangible object added to the immersion. Seriously a great gaming experience I can’t ever replicate.

I remember doing that for HoMM3. I brought it with me from home when I stayed with my grandparents for a few weeks one summer. It wouldn’t install on their PC so I just read the manual cover to cover forever.

I’m still sour a decade later over some customer interactions. One of the most notable was during my time as a barista. It was a busy weekend and quite loud in the shop with a line out the door. The line was to the left of the register and it’s important to know I only have about 50 percent hearing out of my left ear so most people are on my “bad side.”

Now this isn’t a big deal, since if I’m looking at you I hear just fine or if it’s quiet I can pick up on sounds from that side no problem. In a loud busy cafe, it’s pretty bad. So I go to help the next customer and say “hi how can I help you today” or something. The Karen replies that “I was very rude to her, she said hi earlier and I didn’t reply.”

She was a regular and I recognized her but we didn’t have a rapport or anything but I would have definitely greeted her had I heard. I apologized and explained I’m pretty deaf in my left ear and just didn’t hear her. Story should have ended there but she goes ballistic and starts calling me a liar and that I made it up. Luckily a more friendly regular was also in line and backed me up.

Still pisses me off. Everyone should work a service job just to learn how to treat people.

The only deal I find on prime day is storage. Usually pick up a SSD or few SD cards and save a few bucks.

Superchunk has a song called hyper enough and I think the first verse ends with “lofter gusts” but it sounds like he’s saying “laughter guns” to me and many others. So much so the band made an EP with the title. Features a college radio show doing a deep dive on the subject.

I usually think garish paint jobs ruin vehicles but in this case I think the paint job improves it. I also think if Elon sees this he’ll burst a blood vessel so bonus points for that. No paint job will make me not hate the CT and anyone who buys one though.

I call BS. It’s been apparent for years Elon is an ass clown. I never liked him because I don’t like billionaires, but it was when he called the driver who rescued those kids stuck in a cave a pedophile just because he didn’t get to use his submersible he had space x build. That was 2018. I’m sure there were red flags before that but that was when I lost respect for anyone who likes him.
