Put the foot down on your camera if you’re going to leave it open. Not for any technical reason, it just looks better. Or don’t I guess if you like it that way.

I don’t see why not. Hot dogs are generally pre-cooked, you can eat a cold one straight out of the package. The real question is if you made coffee instead of water would you get a coffee flavor caffeinated dog?
Whoever found and cited [10] is doing God’s work lol.

I recommend installing the controller on a computer if you continue to have issues. You don’t have to run it all the time, just use it for config and then turning it off is fine. It’ll give you way more information and control over exactly how the AP is set up.
fhqwgads@possumpat.ioto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Unifi AP behind an extra switch: 2.4Ghz network stops working after ~30 minutesEnglish1·11 months agoWhich model is it? As far as I’m aware all the Unifi APs need the controller for config. It doesn’t need to stay running unless you want a couple features for large deployments but you do need to run it to set things up initially. The Air Max / uisp lines are the ones with web based config.
fhqwgads@possumpat.ioto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Unifi AP behind an extra switch: 2.4Ghz network stops working after ~30 minutesEnglish3·11 months agoDo you have a continuously running unifi controller or is it only running when you do the config? Does it do the same thing with the controller opposite to how it is now (ie if you aren’t running it does it do it when you leave the controller on)?
Are you running the 2.4 and 5 as separate SSIDs or the same one?
Are you on the latest controller and firmware?
It’s the second video, and it starts at like 4 or 5 minutes in. It’s almost the entire video long.
You might want to put a content warning on the second video, it’s pretty rough.
The first video is largely about him running illegal lotteries, which is pretty terrible given the scale they operate at, but it’s something that the average person might not know about or really think about it being essentially child gambling.
The second video is an interview with a former employee who was put in solitary confinement for a video that never made it to YouTube because it was actually just them torturing him. Like, legitimate Geneva Convention war crime torture. Constant noise, no idea what time it is because you can’t see the sun, constant lights so you can’t sleep, constant monitoring, and him running until his feet bled.
If any of it is anywhere near true they need to be sued off the face of the planet in addition to going to prison.

Even within his audience it feels like way more people will own and use a drip coffee machine, which they don’t spend much time on. Especially if you should actually put drip machine parts in the dishwasher - the manual often says it’s safe.

We’re using them through Smartthings, but home assistant should work just as well. We have hardwired zwave light switches next to all of them, apparently that can help with the reliability since they will act as zwave repeaters in case the lock doesn’t pick up the signal first time - especially for changing the codes.
Are they a perfect lock that no one will be able to pick? Probably not, but it’s a lot faster to just put a brick through your window no matter how good your locks are.

I switched to a titanium heat break since I apparently have a habit of tightening the aluminum ones a bit too hard, and it was fine for a while but I started getting clogs basically every print at about the 10 minute mark that seemed like heat creep. I couldn’t figure out what the deal was since titanium should be even better about heat creep.
It turned out that the machining for the heat breaks might have been too rough I think? Or at least not “perfect” in some way. I had a ton of problems until I “seasoned” them with mineral oil. Basically throw a couple drops in the heat break with it at about 250. Obviously be very careful since it’s flammable. You could probably accomplish something similar with an old school filament oiler.
fhqwgads@possumpat.ioto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•This person has earned a front row seat5·1 year agoTo be fair 10ths are a thing in surveying. And occasionally engineering I guess but I’ve never seen it.
I want a ruler in 3rds just to mess with people now though.
If I remember correctly, it’s not the freezing point. Fahrenheit used a brine that included ammonium chloride to set 0 on his scale since it was the closest thing he could make in his lab that was a consistent temperature. The other end was body temperature, which he set at 96 if I’m remembering right since it’s more easily divisible than 100. He was a little off on his body temperature measurements so it’s considered a little higher than that now.

This is what I just found out I'm stuck with.English2·1 year agoOften they serve areas where there’s basically no cell coverage. That’s why we used them when we did after trying a number of antennas and boosters. We’ve had neighbors put up 12m towers in conjunction with the WISP to get service.
fhqwgads@possumpat.ioto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Staying for the week at an AirBnB in Rochester, MN. This is what I just found out I'm stuck with.English13·1 year agoIt is and it isn’t, those are pretty standard fixed wireless rates. It’s largely used in pretty rural areas where you wouldn’t be able to get fiber or cable or often even DSL. They compete against things like hughesnet that’s more expensive and has something like a 15gb data cap. Or starlink for $150 a month and $500 of equipment and the weight on your soul of giving Elon money.
They often run wireless backhauls for tens of miles across multiple towers so bandwidth is pretty limited and setup and maintenance is somewhat specialized. Like yeah if you can get cable or fiber do that it’s way better. But when there’s no other option is not that bad all things considered.

Going through Airbnb support really isn’t worth it and will take forever. Just message the hosts directly. If you have an Airbnb account you can be added as a guest on the trip by her and message them yourself if she doesn’t want to deal with it.
To be fair, if Lemmy’s discoverability wasn’t trash you could probably have both. I would love to have a bunch of small instances that were focused on individual topics, like Star Trek or anime or knitting or gardening or whatever and just jump between them. It feels like that’s what federation was built for.
But because Lemmy is so small right now and discoverability is so bad it seems like almost every instance is either intentionally a tech / general purpose one or so adjacent it might as well be. As long as there’s just one community for that thing that people can find that would be great, but instead there are like 10 spread around 3 different instances and 8 of them are dead and 1 just bot reposts the subreddit - and it’s really hard to tell which is which. Like, if everything was actually on one instance at least you could just list everything.
