I can’t really afford doctors generally, but I was in another country soon after turning 40 and I decided to get a full checkup on the cheap. I was steeling myself for the prostate exam. Imagine my surprise and relief when they gave me a goddam ultrasound instead! Like they would for a pregnant lady! Cold gel on the belly and all. They gave me the exact volume of my prostate in decilitres. So yeah, that is apparently an option.

Win for what? What do they want to do with the levers of power? Neoliberalism and conservatism? It’s not just the small group of leftists that they stand to gain with better policies-- there’s a huge pool of potential voters out there who just ignore politics completely. It seems like a chicken/egg problem right? Dems don’t chase left/non voters because they don’t vote Dem, or is it those people don’t vote Dem (or at all) because Dems don’t chase them? I argue it’s the latter, because political parties need leadership more than they need polling nonsenses weathervanes.

When have they ever chased the left? Just because Democrats don’t understand the left, or are opposed to leftist policy, doesn’t mean the left is “into purity culture”. Maybe what you call purity culture is just different ethical standards than you have. Maybe just maybe try standing for something worthwhile and you’ll bring not only some leftists in, but also a big chunk of people that just can’t be bothered to vote at all. Otherwise, what’s even the point of winning if you’re just constantly chasing the Republicans right? Is that what you really want as a Democrat?

Yeah that rings a bell. Weirdly I woke up this morning to an abuse complaint from my hosting provider after years of no issues.

I know about that setting, but this was different. It relies on Linux permissions. Like you have a dedicated ‘user’ for running qBit, and that user has no privileges for any network interface other than the VPN.

I had someone help me set something similar up but I don’t remember the exact details. Something like making the qBit user unable to use any interface but the TUN.

We had a map of our delivery area on the wall. Maps like this have an index of street names on one side, with XY coordinates to find them on the map. Before leaving with the pizza, you look at the map (if you weren’t familiar with the area) and get an idea how to get there. The longer you work there, the less you need to look at the map.

I’ve played with it a bit. I think I was using something called DockStarter and Portainer. Like I said though, I could never quite grasp what was going on. Now for my home webapps I use Yunohost, and for my media server I use Swizzin CE. I’ve found these to be a lot easier, but I will try Docker again sometime.

If you have all of that set up then, what benefit is there to blowing away your container and spinning up a ‘fresh’ one? I’ve never been able to wrap my head around docker, and I think this is a big part of it.

What about your preferences/configs/files (when you spun up a fresh one)?
