use it for home assistant. I’m astonished because my test install from years ago on a pi that’s around 7 years old is going with no intervention aside from updates. it’s crazy robust.
for a while my laptop was slow and I needed a test local environment rebuilding with webpack so I set up a newer pi that ran the Dev servers so my laptop didn’t choke. I’ve got a better laptop now.
I played it cool for an entire uber ride home at 7am and walked inside feeling like I’d totally gotten away with it.
Went to brush my teeth, looked in the mirror and and remembered there was a facepainter at the event and I looked like Ziggy Stardust.
I’m not very outraged. It’s a chatbot, not an employee who should “know better”
also Hitler was an effective leader, which we should all remember as a cautionary tale about how effective horrible people can be
pretending he was bad at everything because we hate him is a great way to not learn from history
embedded tweets just look like they have a close button now
I’m enjoying the irony of the automatic ai summary to read this for us.
I don’t want a factory job though. I want a world that’s organised well enough that people don’t starve when you don’t have menial labour for them to waste their lives on to justify being fed.
feeding and housing is just logistics and we’re good at that. let the robots do physical work and continue feeding people as before.
Bruce Y Lee is only producing one a day but if you include Bruce A through X Lee, you get a lot more articles…
he could easily just be a bit burnt out and be using chat gpt to give him the bones of an article and a bunch of “amusing” phrases and stringing it together himself.
it’d probably what I’d do if i was a journo right now.
I’m a developer and I always leave telemetry on … when it’s my code I find it useful when there’s a problem so it gets fixed faster. As long as it’s not being used to target ads at me I’m happy to help, esp when it’s free software?
if we use embedding and the language documentation, I wonder how much it can work out going forward?
yeah I think I’ll go to the ad removal fee. it’s expensive but I use it a lot 🤷♂️
I originally did the monthly sub because I didn’t have an option and that was the cheapest, it is kinda pricey but it’s light years ahead of what I was using
also I’m a developer and I think the guy who made it has probably working like mad to make this, and if it’s his sole income and it got pulled out from under him… idk. it’s a gamble to not just go get a 9-5 and work on this instead
bro has to eat and I already donate to my local instance.
“this is too hard, I’ll just call the company ‘apple’ instead” - Elon, probably
I honestly agree, I feel so annoyed that on a platform designed from the ground up to enable communication whatever platform we’re on, people are taking the first opportunity to cripple its growth because they hate a company.
You can get whatever data is available from federation with a server just by joining a server - the data they want is from installing their app on your phone.
if you stay federated with them you can get all their content for free without installing their spyware.
complete win.
it’s so good, wish I’d found it sooner
