All their smart lights are tuya, or at least the ones that I have. The esp are swappable but are soldered to the boards and their a pain to open but can be done.

I purchased some of their downlughts to add another project to the pile and to feed my curiosity.

I’d dare say the easier method, from memory the p6 should have a charge limit in the stock firmware.

I’ve not an old Samsung s10+ kicking around with corrupted firmware, should really take a look at it and see if it can be up and running again. Not that I need more cores, ram, cameras or any additions to my equipment but just because.

It fassinates me that consumer hardware, and low power at that goes wasted so often. So many small form factor devices such as phones, with built in ups aren’t being leveraged. But I guess that comes down to proprietary binary blobs and developer work on a per device basis.

I might have to investigate what platforms mobile nixos supports and see if it’s cheap enough to dabble with.

Wife kicked me off our joined Spotify membership (we both agreed to her using student discount for her account) so I’ve setup plexamp for my albums. I mean technically streaming but self-hosted.

Has android auto, and the in app interface is reasonable.

Its kind of nice, just to play an album you own vs having a neverending list of songs you might enjoy.

Yer I host Plex for 10+ folks and it’s an easy send. Really wish I could pipe it through CloudFlare but not willing to risk it currently.

I’ll give plexamp a go, man my tastes are all over the shop so it will be an album dump (that I should have done years ago) spinning up some old cds and the external dvd drive 😂

You hosting your plex service for other users outside of your home? I’m finding the ease of access for other users / the wife is the largest driving point for me to continue using plex.

I could configure a VPN and attach my jellyfin server to that network however that’s a large hurdle for some of the general population users I have on my plex currently.

Admittedly I could Bluetooth to my head unit in my car and stream Grayjay music to it, but that’s just leaning on an unfree service.

That’s why I love my Datavac, been kicking around for 10 or so years now. Decent pressure, reasonably priced. Only downside is the mains power requirement, and the noise it produces would wake the neighbours up.

It’s essentially a big vaccum motor in a tube with a nozzle.

I run NixOS on all my devices including servers, desktop & laptop.

I’m able to configure a service, container, package whatever really and have it run just the same on another system without worrying about dependencies, reconfiguring or copying dots.

There isn’t a worry about installing / removing something and having that package break my system. Even if I did break my install I can boot from a USB, pull my config down from my local git or a mirror and be back in what is essentially the same system.

The hardest part of a reinstall for me is setting up drives, but that too can be a part of a config.

NixOS is the only distro that stuck with me, I tried Proxmox / Ubuntu / Arch / Manjaro but none of those really clicked for what I wanted / needed from an OS.

From memory Paint on W10 is able to open webp, and save as another file extension if required. I had to convert so many of these images for product listings online, only for them to be converted back to webp…

Devices like Intel MyriadX inside of a camera would be considered edge devices in this application.

I’ve got an original OakD camera but haven’t tried to use it yet, was a gift at a convention a few years back. Pretty interesting device overall.

My old Breville was great, had a built in grinder which was easy to clean. But the Ms wanted a new machine. Just wished I’d kept the Breville in the shed.

Honestly considering an upgrade to a decent unit, but living in the country (AU) doesn’t give me much options on the 2nd hard market locally.

I did mine recently and air got trapped in the flow metre - had a bad seal & was pulling up air. Machine thought it had not ran enough water through to complete the cycle so was stuck in a loop.

Also there isn’t a method for cleaning out the grinder, apart from opening the whole unit…

Cloudflared is such a nice feature, I have seperate tunnels for different services hosted on the one machine.

I believe that functionality exists already if you are using Plex; via RSS sync.

Really depends on what you want out of the system, what you can spend and how much time you want to spend on it.

My old z390 itx system has a 16x PCIE to 4x m.2 card - leveraging an m.2 to 5x SATA adaptor with the built in SATA adaptors has given it plenty of space.

Considering I can grab m.2 to 6 SATA adaptors and fill the remainder of the slots that’s a decent chunk of drives from a single PCIE x16 slot.

Software is another kettle of fish and a good way to timesink, I’d rather not give too much of my personal experience as there are so many ways to skin that cat.

I love my rear view mirror being able to auto dim, not sure if that feature is in most cars but it’s saved my eyes a number of times now.

I use Schizofox, perhaps some of those tweaks assist. I’ve got a static IP at home too, maybe just lucky?
