Is 100% robusta a bad thing? I tried a robusta on a whim and loved it to the point I don’t brew arabica at home. Is this some sort of feaux pas?

One 1.5 cup french press in the morning. Very rarely, mainly if I’m really busy for an entire day straight, I’ll grab an iced coffee from McDonalds or Starbucks sometime around lunch as a boost.
Sounds like you’re going in a good direction. Again I’ve personally never put anything like this together, I’d be interested to see what you come up with
Yes that was my main concern too. I suppose if you wanted to really go for it, you could also make cutouts for fans and cut some channels for airflow, but in the end aluminum panels with maybe some rubber standoffs for mounting may just be the safer option. And I suppose thubscrews for securing boards would make them easily removable
My mind for mounting personally goes to foam with cutouts (making sure the foam is of an antistatic variety). This would provide a snug fit for different hardware in their assigned spaces, plus easy removal/rearrangment, and in-built shock absorption in case of drops etc. Channels could be cut in the foam to allow different connections and route them where you need.
Now, I can’t say I’ve ever built a project like this so this may not work for your needs.
$100 for a kitchen implement that grinds coffee and does nothing else is more than a lot of people are willing to spend. I have one that was given to me and I really like it, but I wouldn’t pay that much any day of the week. If I had an extra hand grinder, I’d honestly probably do something like this for fun, because I already have these tools for work.
Spending easter weekend at my in-laws, meaning Folgers K-cups in a keurig. I’m incredibly spoiled with my fresh ground robusta+french press+tablespoon of ghee, but honestly after an incredibly long day of two family get-togethers (stopped in to see my own family en route), I was just happy to wake up the next morning and brew something bitter.
I went black and, well, you know the saying.
One of the upsides is it’s now really easy to tell what places sell garbage tier coffee (cough, Tim Hortons, cough)
They only mentioned it in passing once (afaik) in a blog post. These aren’t actual plans so much as a pipe dream I think
Pine64, the company that has made such excellent projects as the PinePhone, PineBook, and PineTime(open source hardware and software smartphone, laptop and smart watch), has stated that one of their dream projects would be an open source, hackable printer. There’s obviously a ton of logistics though and it will likely never materialize unless they really start making big bucks.
Everybody donate to Pine64 so they can get that open source printer off the ground someday.
Interesting, maybe just a preference thing? I’ll give it a shot either way to see what happens.
I’ll definitely check that out when I get a few minutes, thank you!
Hey, it looks clean and functional. Just keep taking it one step at a time, and learn as much as you can.
Okay very good to know. I only read a brief blurb about steep times, they gave 4 minutes as a starting point so I figured I’d try that but this weekend when I have some more time I’ll try something different (I have an 8 pound bag of beans so I’m perfectly happy experimenting😅)
As for cold brew, I’ve done it quite a few times and been happy with it but never tried pressing it after, just poured it through a filter so I’ll give that a shot next time I do cold brew.
Awesome thank you for the input. I do think I’m pretty happy with the grind, although I’ll look into adjusting that just to play around. I’ll also give your bloom method a try
I’m a robusta drinker, anytime I’m stuck with arabica I use a pinch of salt and as you say, it does wonders. Livens it up and cuts through the acidic taste some arabica tends to have.
Oh? Never heard of it, just use neofetch cause it’s the first one I’ve found. What makes it superior?
No offense taken, to each their own. I’ve tried plank a few times, I always find it lacking in options and end up coming back to latte. I agree latte can have stability issues, but I disabled animations and transparency and it’s incredibly snappy so far. And to be fair, I’ve never commited to learning planks ins and outs so maybe someday I’ll give it a more serious try and find I like it. I do appreciate your input though.
Yeah this is the one big downside I’ve noticed. I’ve been doing cold brew and basically have to water it down to nothing in order to not vibrate out of my socks. Shame because the flavour is just exactly what I want out of coffee.
