Out of curiosity, what would you consider “too cold to go out”? Not really about the metric/celcius system, but 0c is light jacket weather for me.

It could be credibly called an homage if it had a new punchline, but methinks the creator didn’t know what “sanitize” meant in this context.

I try to leave comments when I figure something out, especially when the thread is a top Google result. It’s like leaving one of those little rock piles for others to find.

Unfortunately Reddit is still an incredibly useful archive of advice and help, and I care more about helping some poor soul avoid hours of frustration than chipping a spec of dust off of some training dataset.

Indeed, I’d say an algorithm split among different objects is usually an indication of tightly coupled code. Every code pattern has its pitfalls for inexperienced devs, and I think tight coupling is OOP’s biggest.

Everyone has a limited time on this earth. Some of us don’t mind or actively enjoy spending that time learning about the technology we use. Others, not so much. I think this comic is really spot on because it’s hard to understand as a tech literate person just how little other people may know. “What browser are you using?” “What’s a browser?”

The foundational knowledge is not that tough, but when you’re just interested in getting the damn thing to work so you can get on with your life, it’s easy to get frustrated by having to take a crash course on what the hell a BIOS is before you can try to fix it. And when you learn all that just for it to still be broken, patience quickly runs out.

As long as people have the general understanding that power cycling will solve a good 75% of issues, I’m happy. I hope people give me the same grace when I pay a someone to fix my car or replace my phone screen (I love building computers, but god I hate working on phones).

I feel this so hard! Sometimes I wanna be a little quiet, mysterious, wait for them to come to you. But someone says anything that remotely interests me and I’m suddenly jabbering like a turkey.

I want to say that stick-built homes are really not so fragile as people seem to think. There’s tradeoffs, of course, and ways to build them that make them uncomfortable at best and blatantly unsafe at worst. That being said, they’re pretty sturdy, fairly easy to repair and modify, and relatively quick and cheap to build.

Thank God freedom units give us the liberty of doing away with that commie nonsense.

I like vacations where I just go exist somewhere else. Plan a few outings, sure, go to some nice restaurants, but otherwise I just want to relax with no itinerary. The best vacations are ones where I don’t have to look at the clock.
