  • Exactly. People weren’t so much amazed by the fact something wouldn’t move until you moved it, they were much more amazed by mathematical proof that in the vacuum of space objects will just keep moving however you pushed them - it’s an alien idea when all you’ve ever experienced is the opposite on Earth.

  • We’re always told the people at the bottom rung of society, the people doing “entry level” jobs just need to work harder and harder to earn a proper living…

But how does that work really? Unlike a lot of high level jobs, none of these jobs just exist for the sake of existing, most of these “entry level” jobs are essential to society (we saw that much during the pandemic).

Somebody has to do them or society just doesn’t work, so don’t the people doing these literally essential jobs deserve to be paid a fair living wage? They’re working just as hard as the people above them, yet they’re paid peanuts in comparison

That’s the hill Pope Francis is willing to die on? - that Gender ideology is the ugliest danger today?
Not Russia’s endless onslaught against the Ukrainian people or Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people?
Pope Francis needs to get outside more often.

  • The rest of the world got the right version of the man’s work

Which is (or at least should be) “Aluminium” because that’s the internationally agreed IUPAC spelling.

We gave up the cooler spelling of Sulfur to be consistent with IUPAC - if we can do that, then surely giving up on “-num” should be a cakewalk.

  • Except it’s not clickbait - I’ll cite Wikipedia so you can look yourself, but they’re not the same thing.

Rose Gold is a proper alloy of Gold, made with Copper.

Purple Gold is an “intermetalic” (which have a different molecular structure to normal alloys and thus are more brittle), and is made with Aluminium.

Due to it’s brittleness even amongst intermetalics, it is considered hard to work with, much more so than a proper alloy like Rose Gold. The only similarity they share is their colour ranges can overlap dependent on how they’re made.

  • Again, I’m only taking this seriously because I’m having it thrown back seriously…

Joe shouldn’t be forced to work to help his family put food on the table - how this family doesn’t qualify for some kind of substantial support given the Mum is caring for so many old folks is downright criminal…

But in the reality of their situation, they’re stuck living on the Dad’s meager wage, with the Mum as a fulltime carer, and a bed of old people in addition to a young child.

It’s a shite situation with no real way out, but it could be at least a little bit better with Joe helping out in some way or another - whether that be working himself or even just helping around the house so Mum can go work to help out.

That’s the reality of struggle, when your family is struggling just to stay afloat, everyone who can has to help keep the ship going, even those who shouldn’t really have to. If you think that’s a Tory argument, I really don’t know what to tell you

Edit: Also, this is the last I’ll be chatting on this thread - so I’ll probably read what you write, but don’t expect any replies
