The vibes I get from the French left in social media remind me of the days when Podemos (in Spain) was soaring. It gives me a bit of hope. Good luck.
“The scary socialist madman” accompanied by the Democratic Party apparatus? A presidential candidate Sanders along with a moderate liberal VP would have gotten both the traditional Democratic vote (as long as the party collaborated with him, rather than giving him the Corbyn treatment, which I don’t trust liberals not to do) and a considerable chunk of the electorate who doesn’t feel represented by either party. The day you guys understand that you don’t have to fight the Republicans in traditional terms, but rather, to change the coordinates of the fight, you’ll force Republicans to choose between evolving or getting buried. But the real problem by this point is whether it is too late.
Look, you haven’t sold me on the idea, but I’m going to upvote you because, if nothing else, this is an original take.
This feels like the meme equivalent to a dad joke.
Is this bill going to be voted by the previous representatives or by the ones we just voted? Because that page shows the ones who are leaving.
I’ll have you know, I have pretty high standards to consider someone an expert.
I’ve been there on tour once, and I just looked at an online map to make sure I didn’t misremember. I also follow a guy on YouTube that talks about geology and has been focused on Iceland lately, so I think that makes me a complete expert.
Oh, no! You’re meeting all of them!
To anyone acquantinced with Iceland: What kind of logistical issues does this actually provoke? What measures do you typically (or exceptionally) take to make sure that no location runs unsupplied for too long?
That also serves as a response to his blabbering.
“Aren’t you ashamed that you should have worse intentions for yourself than nature had?”
“My dude, you literally live in a barrel. And cover yourself already.”
Communism is when two old men kiss
On the other hand, he has to live for the rest of his life with sustained brain damage.
Don’t most of them appear in TES Online?
The history of Christian theology can be summed up as: a handful of guys said “hold on, the premises of this whole idea contradict each other”, followed by millenia of coping old dudes writing texts and texts and more texts rationalizing why the dogma they were indoctrinated to believe in has no paradoxes, ackshually.
Fall from Heaven 2? Rise of Mankind? Caveman to Cosmos? Rhyes and Falls of Civilization? Dawn of Mankind? Planetfall? Mars Now? How about all of them at once?
Civ 4 was a goddamn library of 4X games. I still reinstall it after every few years.
I really only started to see the meaning of tankie start sliding once I got to Lemmy, and it goes in two directions; tankies who swear they aren’t tankies, they just have a lot of feelings about why the Uyghurs aren’t being mistreated, and liberals who literally think tankie is a synonym for leftist.
This was already happening in Reddit roughly 2 years ago.
“Communism” is always going to be authoritarian if by “communism” you mean a government that attempts to control the whole of society. If by “communism” you mean a society where private property (not personal property) is democratically managed, that has nothing to do with authoritarism. Nor with the Soviet Union, or China, for that matter.
The vast majority of criticism towards .ml and others come from them being tankies, not communists. I’m a communist, by which I mean I want society to overcome social classes and hierarchies, and therefore, defending authoritarian states with hierarchies where the people on top enjoy political and economic privilege is contrary to communism.
Fun fact: some Spanish Republicans lamented that WWII didn’t start in the earliest months of 1939, because then Francoist Spain would have been considered a belligerent and eventually liberated from totalitarism around 1945. Instead, they got adopted as a little fascist anti-communist lapdog by the Western powers.
If “God” is indistinguishable from the natural world, unable to be differentiated from it, to formulate or express thoughts or to influence existence in any way, it is a redundant idea, a zero to the left, and something so alienated from what the vast majority of people consider God is, that the meaning of the concept has already been twisted. It doesn’t deserve epistemological effort, because our understanding of the world wouldn’t change one bit: rather than it being a wilful intelligence, it would be a carcass over which we happen to live in, which the Universe already is. Even if you were to prove the existence of such a devoid concept, it would be equal to asserting “The Universe exists”.
Of course it can be proven to exist, as long as evidence of its existence exists.
Look. Bitcoins might be useless at a societal level. But if we’re going to use excess renewable energy to drive out of business the crypto-miners who get their power from coal…
