You’re right that it’s attributed to Zhuge Liang, but it seems like Wikipedia thinks it was a fictional story when attributed to Zhuge Liang, but it looks like he wasn’t the first to use this strategy and he wasn’t the last. Regardless, I was wrong about Sun Tzu having done it and I learned more about history, so thanks!

On a somewhat related note, that Sun Tzu quote reminds me of something he did. Sun Tzu had a rivalry with this other general who he often got into skirmishes with and always defeated him or outmaneuvered him with some kind of trickery. So one time this rival general actually had Sun Tzu on the ropes and had chased him into a bit of a corner. Sun Tzu was in a smallish fort with the enemy general closing in and he definitely did not have enough soldiers to hold the fort for long.

So instead of trying to intimidate his rival with a show of force or making his army seem bigger than it was or whatever else he might have tried instead when his rival arrived at the fort he found the front gate fully open and nobody in sight except Sun Tzu himself sitting on the battlement playing an instrument somewhat akin to a lyre I think.

His rival was so wary of trickery that he assumed it must be a trap, or a distraction while a larger army moves in to reinforce him, so he left and Sun Tzu and his army survived.

I think upgrading the RAM as you mentioned is going to make a big difference. While the physical RAM might be soldered to the motherboard, you could buy a fairly cheap SD card or USB and set the system up to use that as virtual memory. It won’t be as fast as actual RAM but it might help and large SD cards are honestly really cheap these days.

Choosing to love Jesus makes that man happy, and that’s great as long as he doesn’t try to ruin other people’s fun. Why is that so hard for some people to understand? Just live your own life and leave other people alone.

It’s like the old saying, “If you think everyone around you is an asshole, just remember that you’re the common denominator in every situation”. So if your teammates are trash, it’s time to look inward at whether you’re actually the problem, or if you’re not, what you can do to help your teammates succeed.

If the person in question has ADHD, maybe cut them some slack. I have ADHD and I’m terrible at messaging people even though I enjoy talking to them and hanging out with them. I hope that my friends understand that.

There’s a big difference in body image set by men for women and body image set for men by men

In most European countries you need a 4 year university degree in criminology to become a cop. They have the same standards for average police officers as we in North America have for Federal law enforcement. So while it’s certainly true that some European countries have shitty cops, the ones with stricter barriers to entry have slightly less shitty cops.

Guys, it’s not one or the other. We can have trees and algae tanks. Trees can still offer all of the benefits they do like shade and beauty while algae tanks can be used to increase fresh oxygen. Algae is much better at absorbing CO2 than trees and providing clean air which is a big problem in a busy city.

TLDW: James Somerton is a gay man and a YouTube content “creator” who has recently been outed as a plagiarist by Hbomberguy and Todd In The Shadows. He primarily steals content from other lesser known queer content creators which just makes his plagiarism all the more insidious.

He has also strangely been proven to be guilty of spreading pseudohistory in which he changes details of historic events.

He has also been accused of a Patreon scam by making a (now deleted) video pleading with his subscribers on YouTube that he can’t make ends meet and he’ll have to stop making videos if he doesn’t get more Patreon subscribers. He got 1200 new patrons from that video. He apparently immediately purchased an $8000 camera afterwards which people describe as a “bizarre purchase” for someone who was just in financial dire straits. Also, there was no evidence of him having suffered a drop in subscribers that he claimed was the reason for his financial situation.

He has also been accused by YouTuber and Nebula creator Jessie Gender of transphobia. She says that James Somerton has gone out of his way to erase any queer content creators who were not cisgender gay men, and that he intentionally misgenders other transgender content creators constantly.

It seems like the inciting incident for all of these YouTube and Nebula content creators to go after him was James’ application to become a Nebula content creator. I suppose they started gathering evidence to provide against his membership and they ended up finding so much that they created these videos and levied formal accusations.

It makes sense to either go general to specific or specific to general. MM-DD-YYYY is neither.

The thing is that if someone is bothering you, then you need to go to the teacher. If you set a precedent that one kid is bothering you, then the teacher is more likely to believe you if you ever snap and hit your bully they’ll be more understanding. But if you never say anything and then suddenly snap, then obviously it looks from the outside like you’re the bully.

I currently work part-time as a bus driver and I just wanna say that it’s incredibly hard to determine who is right or wrong when you didn’t see what happened and you’re just going by what each kid says. If you only see the tail end of a fight, you might wrongfully think the kid retaliating is the bully. 99% of the time it’s easier to just separate the kids and/or punish them both equally since it’s impossible to determine who the victim and the perpetrator is. It sucks, it feels really bad, but that’s the reality of the situation.

There is HDMI CEC which allows a single remote control to control all of your devices, so it must be possible for devices connected by HDMI to receive a signal back from the TV.

I personally love that these boys can still fully identify as men and use he/him pronouns while still exploring their personal styles and fashion choices. Men deserve the freedom to explore and be creative with their appearance. Being pretty shouldn’t be exclusive to women!
