Legendary. Love what they are doing. I have issues with getting people on their platform because of the cartoonish style.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Same brand of cheese, very blue vs. barely blue
12·2 months agoI didn’t like blue cheese and my mother tried to fase me into it a few times with mild blue cheeses. Didn’t work. One day a guy gave me a cube of Stilton - Colston Basset, if I recall right - and my mind was blown. The taste was strong but so good that itvsomehow clicked. Blue cheese is something difficult. I find average blue cheese awful.
I used to have a pair of those. 44 m Much love for Fisher Price
I’m running Home Assistant on mine at the moment. It’s amazing. Really. Apart from being an great smart home solution I’ve found it a good solution to create dashboards for life.
I have set up our family calendar, train schedules that change routes depending on the time. Waste collection notifications. It warns me to get a raincoat and umbrella in the morning. I get news headlines for my interests…
Before that I’ve tried a lot. It was my first step into home labbing 2 years ago. It brought me back to my youth. Breaking the family computer and trying to fix it before anyone noticing it.
Most of the stuff I ran used Docker.

Within a year I grew out of my pi setup and bought a second hand mini Lenovo that now runs Proxmox. Minor investment, huge upgrade. Moved away from dockers also.
The pi is a fun gateway drug.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Is it really worth the BS for a couple more years?
2·4 months agoGenerally, you not only live longer but you die with fewer complications. You can be sick for 20 years before you go or live in considerabel health until your last day. People with a healthy life style get sick too but they just have lower odds of getting terminally Ill.

17·4 months agoI was raised in a bar. My mother owned it for 40 years. Yes, same customers every day. They were all alcoholist but some of them stopped functioning. My mother Fed them, did their taxes, cut their hair. It’s terrible and sad. The functioning alcoholists had a family to turn home to. I used to be an alcoholist until 10 years ago. My wife had to make me realise that drinking every day, even just one beer a day, is alcoholism.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Chat Control 2.0: what if Signal supports user-made Add-ons, one which encrypts all messages? Could that circumvent Chat Control 2.0?

Yeah. I’m over 40 years into the metric system and I keep making this mistake intuitively. I don’t make it when doing calculations bit just when quick guessing.
I know… But from square to cubic
And to add to that. You were 16. Give yourself a break. It took me to get the age of 38 to start pursuing a job that I was genuinely good at and liked to do.

Some youtubers like Networkchuck and Chris from BigBearTechWorld. Especially the last one convinced me with his structured and kind style. His Discourse forum is really helpful.
