  • Ive had this happen a few times. It goes something like this:

    • i buy product and initiate return
    • i ship item with return label
    • as soon as return label is scanned then amazon will release the funds back to me
    • if for some reason they don’t get that package then they say they didn’t get the item back and take the funds back. When this has happened to me it has been 6+ months later
    • when i asked amazon about it they just tell me they didn’t get it back. I tell them i have the shipping confirmation receipt and that this is someone else’s problem and not mine.
    • there’s a lot of back and forth and eventually they act like they’re doing me a favor by giving me my money back

I think the problem was one of the drop off locations we used was stealing products, or just straight up losing them. But it is insane to me that amazon comes back 6 months later. The only thing worse than buying a broken dildo on amazon is returning the broken dildo and still getting charged for it. Getting fucked by the broken dildo twice and not in the ways i had hoped!

  • What advantage is there is changing nameservers? Is it just the centrally manage DNS or something else? I’m fairly new to self hosting and only serving locally for now.

I do know cloudflare uses the same nameservers PER ACCOUNT so if you’re wanting to have multiple domains but keep one or more connections separated from you then this does draw a minor connection to a subset of Cloudflare accounts with the same two nameservers

Oh, i mean the customers (husband and wife) loved it. They literally wanted it burnt when they asked for blackened. All my coworkers had tried to get the outside crispy from the spices but each time they didn’t cook the inside to be flaky enough according to this couple. This occurred over several weeks. Each week the couple came in asking for it and my coworkers progressively cooked it longer each time but it was never good enough. We thought they were just trying to get free meals so when i said i would cook it, i was going for a “they can’t complain about this being undercooked” and much to my surpruse they actually liked it.

I’ll note that no one else in the restaurant ever complained about my coworkers’ blackened fish. It was a popular meal. So it wasn’t my coworkers not cooking it right. Just an odd couple

i once had a customer who wanted their fish “blackened”. Everyone else on staff had tried at some point and the customer always complained it was undercooked. So me being the new gal said id do it. I threw it in a pan and left it there for god knows how long. Then flipped it, left it there longer, and finally threw it into the back of our oven for another 15 minutes. It was literally charcoal when i was done. I was sure they would complain that it was overcooked but those fuckers loved it. They specifically requested me to cook their meal whenever they came in after that. I was just fucking with them the first time 🤷‍♀️

Id set up a static website with Hugo. You can preview and build locally. Or put it on your home network and vpn in if you need remote access to make an entry.

In your content folder you could do content/[year]/[month]/[day]/index.md, and have a _index.md in the year and in month folders so there would be pages with automatic collection of articles under that year/ month. You could also subdivide the content folder into health/ general/ shower thoughts and other “types” of journals

They have support for tags, categories, and custom taxonomies. So if you wanted to have “people” category you could, and then a “thing” category or any other sort of way to tag the content.

  • Yeah your experience matches mine. Id really encourage people to not blanket trash on all mods. It is a lot of work that goes into moderating communities and it is either done by people who love the community, or by someone who loves that power dynamic. I’m not saying all mods are perfect, but give a chance for individual mods to prove themselves. It’s generally a thankless job, especially lately. By trashing on all mods we’re just going to scare away the good intentioned people and all that is left are the power hungry ones.

  • If you haven’t already, check out https://choosealicense.com/licenses/ . This gives a broad overview of the common open source licenses. And if you’re just starting out, one of the first things you’ll want to learn is that the licenses fall into either a permissive or copyleft category. You’ll want to make sure you understand the difference between those broad categories.

Shortly, permissive have less to no strings attached to use their code, and copyleft requires you to retain the same licensing terms meaning if you publish under GPLv3 then someone using/ modifying your code needs to also publish under GPLv3. Copyleft licenses ensure that open source code stays open source.
