Are you slow? nobody is arguing that you can hot swap a GPU. That’s not what people are correcting you on.
YOU claimed that PCIE is not PLUG AND PLAY
NO. PCIE is not plug and play.
That was your comment. It was wrong. You were wrong.

Dude… you’re the one that said PCIE isn’t plug and play, which is incorrect. Plug and play simply means not having to manually assign IRQ/DMA/etc before using the peripheral, instead being handled automatically by the system/OS, as well as having peripherals identify themselves allowing the OS to automatically assign drivers. PCIE is fully plug-and-play compatible via ACPI, and hot swapping is supported by the protocol, if the peripheral also supports it.
Same in Ontario. I’ll get a paper copy if I ask for one, but otherwise new scripts are faxes direct to the pharmacy. Even paper copies are a printout though. I haven’t gotten a handwritten prescription in well over a decade now
The truly infuriating part is there’s likely lots of people out there that got them on the first try or by accident
These are less for your education as it is for management/HR to absolve responsibility: “We trained them to not do <xyz>, it’s not our fault they did it”
IIRC, it was Greg Norman’s Shark Attack that had a thing where it would give you a small pixel art picture of the top-down view of a golf course, and you had to go through the game manual and enter in what page that golf course picture appeared on… so we just got a photocopy version of the manual
It’s literally impossible to stop people from having alcohol.
Criminalizing drugs has only ever been harmful. The people using these drugs aren’t criminals, they’re victims. They need treatment, not jail. What fucking monster thinks that someone who has fallen to an incredibly addictive substance needs incarceration, not treatment? You think someone who got caught with a needle in their arms deserves the same treatment as a murderer? People have lifetime sentences for possession of heroin and rapists get a couple years.
What I would really like is having a combination between ‘all’ and ‘subscribed’ where it shows ‘all’ posts, but then my subscribed communities get a sort of amplification so they are more likely to appear in my feed, even if posts in my subscribed communities may not get much engagement.
That type of pay phone has been in use in Canada for >25 years, card reader and all. We had a row of them in my high school back in the 90s
Out of all the recent innovations in trucks, the only ones I’d really consider useful is having 120V power plugs in the bed and reversing cameras. Neither is required, but they do make things much easier.
But also, I am far more likely to assume that someone driving a Tacoma or Ranger is using it to do work than I am someone driving a ‘full size’ pickup.
Fun fact: Those were still the exact same floppies that you would normally have formatted to 1.44MB, but Microsoft formatted the disk differently to allow 1.68MB. Works well for small numbers of large files, but not so great for general purpose storage.
Radio Shack would be great as a maker store, selling things like components/parts/materials, Arduino/RPi boards, 3D printers, tools, etc
Yes, your total energy consumption drops, but your electricity consumption rises as a result. Electrification of stuff that relied on burning fossil fuels means that electricity consumption goes up even while total energy consumption stays the same or drops. I’m not necessarily saying that nuclear is the solution, but it’s a solution that can at least buy us a few decades for renewables and energy storage to catch up to demand.
