One day I’ll have more to do and you people will be rid of me.
And that day will be a sad one.

That’s not something that really works with industries that are zero sum games. You can’t have a dozen competing rail companies in a given state because there is only so many paths that a rail system can take, and you need to clear out continuous stretches of land through eminent domain.
If a company provides a vital services and fails, it should be nationalized. If a company does not provide a vital service and fails, it shouldbe allowed to fail and the employees themselves bailed out.
Because enshitifying their service would earn them short term profits, which is the only thing corps/shareholders care about.
Agreed. Though it has crossed my mind that the in universe explanation for why the Federation is so enlightened and willing to care for all of its citizens because of the horrors Earth went through.
But yeah, definitely would like to avoid WW3/the Bell Riots.
Warhammer is for the tabletop. Anything more is a living nightmare.
Don’t worry! WW3 will be preceeded by the Bell Riots, a collection of revolts by people treated inhumanely and stuck in slums. It will be a fun little distraction before the fireworks. It’s even got it’s own count down now!
According to Star Trek lore, WW3 will begin in 3 years, and last for 27 years.
Buckle up.
Yeah, it was more or less the same experience for me. My community college was the same quality teaching (and in some aspects it was better). Which just makes it infuriating that 4 year community college programs aren’t really an option.
It may not be much in comparison to others, but that doesn’t make absolve me of my debt. Practically every other developed nation has this figured out, it’s long past time we caught up.
I’ve got about $25,000 reasons why it is not in fact better.
Scholarships that only exist in the first place because we have privatized higher education, which is privatized because of greed.
I did as close to that as I could, going to community then transferring to a 4 year. The problem is deeper than people wanting extra stuff, part of the problem is that nobody respects community college degrees, and they’re usually 2 year programs.
That’s exactly what I do and I don’t have problems getting it warm all throughout.
And even for solid food it isn’t too hard. Just keep it shaped like a doughnut, then let it sit for a minute or two.
How am I going to airfry a soup?
(With that said I have an air frier)
Que lindo. Mi novia es de Costa Rica. La visita para su familia cada año. Estamos emocionado para visitar en Noviembre.
It’s only going to be a matter of time before they start requiring contracts, forcing you to stick with a service for long periods or face fees for dropping them.
They are capitalists, and so they must always profit more and more, never ending, for all of time. One of the things they will eventually do to hit that unsustainable proift motive is contracts. It’s what the cable companies did, and it’s only a matter of time.
Even uncontacted tribes in the middle of nowhere islands probably have microplastics in their blood too. After all, they likely are eating animals that have microplastics. Stuff like this always gets worse the higher up the food chain you get, and humans are pretty high up.
The dictation software we have is pretty shitty though. It almost always needs proof-read, or re-dictated several times to get it right. At that point you may as well just send an audio clip.
Until the day that dictation software gets it 100% correct, it’s not going to be worth my time.
For now, the human on the other end will always have an easier time understand an audio clip than a machine, because human minds are more capable of using context and getting past regional accents.
They would probably actually have a decent shot at getting away with it, at least at first.
And to answer your question, it’s because the anger that companies generate by doing this shit ends up turning into piracy. Why would you try to punish a corp for doing this (likely wasting your time) when a cheap VPN and basic tech literacy gets you what you want?
The effort ratios are way out of wack when it comes to digital products. It’s easy to get around digital bullshitery, not so much in the real world where we are all car dependant.
