That’s an interesting idea, I may play around with that. I do plan on getting a swivel mount though for the tv so I can angle it towards my desk or the TV depending on where I am

I modelled the room and all the furniture in all the possible layouts I could think of using SweetHome3D and this was just the layout I found comfiest 😄. I especially wanted the sort of floating desk thing because I mess with things a lot so it just makes it much easier than when it’s up against a wall. It also gives me more space to work with things since I can walk around the other side of the desk. The TV is in a weird state right now admittedly. I plan to put it on a swivel mount but I really use it so little that I haven’t bothered buying a mount yet

There’s also an HDMI over CAT5e/6 receiver and an HDMI switch connected to one of my servers in the basement but it’s not really used right now. Trying to figure out how to setup a KVM switch that can switch between my basement servers but haven’t put too much time into it yet

I switch between the laptops and the desktop with a DisplayPort KVM switch. The laptops get plugged into a powered USB C/Thunderbolt dock that one display is connected to (for some reason my M3 pro doesn’t like my second monitor though so it’s always just black)

Yeah… I’ve noticed that actually 😅. Luckily the sun only shines directly through my window in the early morning but still, I’ve definitely had my blinds closed a lot more since re-arranging things to this setup

I guess it’s less the response itself but the response objects in the codebase. The main code base I work on is fully typed Python/FastAPI but we depend on an API from another team that was, up until recently, untyped entirely. The responses were just dictionaries that were dynamically generated randomly in 10 layer deep functions. There was absolutely no way to tell what they would actually return, let alone what types they would be. It’s like, if you see a function that’s just called get_big_fat_entity_findings() with no typing, how would you handle that without spending an hour reading through the code line by line? Typing is important for any project that’s bigger than a quick script

Are you the person who’s writing these APIs that just return dynamically generated untyped JSON that I need to deal with on my team at work? Typing absolutely matters and I will die on this hill
