  • Just to be clear, this money was already spent by the previous administration on federal leases that were going to be used to build these offshore farms. The government will now be reimbursing the company the money it spent on those leases. Not quite just paying the company to not do something like the headline makes it seem. But that’s now $1 billion that could certainly be put to better use elsewhere that will be wasted paying this company back.

It’s also embarrassingly short sided for a myriad of reasons but that doesn’t matter anymore. We’re great again!

  • I’m not the person you asked but this whole thread is wild to me. I’ve lived in 9 different states including CA and I can only remember like 2 homes that wore shoes inside and they were super Asian that had house slippers/shoes they would put on. Aside from special occasions I have literally never seen anyone just walk inside with shoes on and not take them off. Y’all people are dirty lol

  • Yes. BUT there are certain ways a government can help its citizens (and itself in most cases) by allowing them to be self sufficient that has nothing to do with electric companies or monopolies at all. The subsidies for solar panels were a great example of this. Depending on your personal needs, you could generate enough power to take yourself off the grid, and the government invested in your panels by way of those subsidies. In many cases the extra electricity from the panels that you don’t use can go back into a grid to be used by someone else. Theoretically helping you and the government. There are, of course some issues with the system but speaking from experience it can absolutely work and work wonderfully.

Unfortunately Trump (of course) has killed these subsidies so that will not be a thing as of new years 2026.

  • Completely agree. There are some things ai clearly struggles very hard with but the rate at which it is improving in just about every single facet is insane. I mean just take a look at this, this was unimaginable like literally months ago. That thing is 100% ai generated. Sound, visuals, script… everything is made from a prompt in a few minutes. And we’re still basically just at the infant stage. Just imagine what the hell these things will be doing in 20 or 50 or 100 years.

  • Random question, but when you have an image like this with a ton of that fuzzy noise stuff and then you try to put an image into it without any fuzzy noise crap, what’s the best way to do it? Basically, how do you match noise when compositing images?

I’ve found some ways to do it online that are decent but it almost always comes out different. Like you can usually totally tell the image doesn’t belong there.
