  • It’s hard to say.

For discussion threads I think it makes sense and that’s what I really want to see grow. When we only had films it was easier since you had only a few new films per week, and even less if you focused only on the blockbusters/comic book movies.

Now with TV shows you’ve got a new episode every week.

If you look at Reddit communities you had great discussion and memes week to week, and it only worked with folks hyper focused on the TV show.

Ideally I’d have separate communities for each show, but that would be spread super thin.

  • If you’re a fan of Comic Book TV & Movies I want to highlight,

We’re discussing the latest MCU films and TV shows. Agatha All Along is airing right now, but we’re also excited for next year with Captain America: Brave New World & Thunderbolts*.

We’re also open to discussing Sony’s terrible Marvel films like Venom and Madam Web. And I’m looking forward to Sony’s excellent Marvel films like Spider-verse.

Of course to be fair I’ve also reignited,

It’s just discussing The Penguin TV series at the moment, but as James Gunn and Peter Safran put together their DCU I expect we’ll talk about it a lot more. Also the upcoming Joker sequel. If it’s DC it’s fair game.

And of course for either community if you just want to visit after watching the latest film or TV show, that works too.

  • It’s definitely amplified to pretend that any existing story is a “real story” or to just pad a slow news day.

You can just say “Twitter users are saying” and suddenly something sounds important. No need to clarify that it’s just a few dozen people, and by “people” it’s just Twitter accounts many of which are bots.

The sooner Twitter implodes the better off we all are. Sure I’d like folks to move to Mastodon, but really I don’t care where they go. Bluesky or Threads is fine. Some new hotness/flavor of the week is fine. But Twitter is a lost cause. It’s speeding towards failure since Musk took over but he just accelerated its eventual fate.

In the 1994 Disney classic “Return of Jafar” the thief who finds genie Jafar wishes for treasure so Jafar transports him to a sunken pirate ship full of treasure where he nearly drowns and I think is almost eaten by a shark.

So your can twist literal. In this case I did the same. Lawyered.

Twist: Payment is on the form of a text or other short note telling you something memorable they saw, a relative, a friend, a flower, a tree, a cat, a dog, the list goes on. The emotional impact of these notes cause you to weep. Your heart grows. You can’t stop crying. Dehydration sets in. That growth on your heart, it’s a tumor. You die. It looks like the Joker killed you. Genie always wins.

  • I always assume people doing this are unhinged/crazy and I definitely don’t want to deal with that.

    Sometimes they look nice enough.

Usually what happens is myself and everyone else on the train look at each other, have a shared look of “Morons? Am I right?” and then when that person leaves, we all share a group laugh.

So I guess what I’d say is, if you do this, know that everyone is laughing at you. If you say you don’t care, that’s a lie, you do care, that’s why you’re doing what you’re doing. This is not positive attention, this is negative attention. Please take a moment and reflect to be a force for positivity and not negativity.
