  • Do you mean AI, just Generative models, or LLMs in particular? I’m pretty thoroughly convinced that AI is a general solution to automation, while generative models are only a partial but very powerful solution.

I think the larger issue is actually that displacement from the workforce causes hardship to those who have been displaced. If that were not the case, most people either wouldn’t care or would actively celebrate their jobs being lost to automation.

  • Some years ago, Pussy Riot put out information on how to use Makeup to confound face detection algorithms.

On an unrelated note: This is probably going to be blocked in ML because I used the word “pussy”. I wonder why that instance has a problem with me mentioning that word. Could it be perhaps the name of a feminist anarchist group activity resisting domestic Russian oppression? No, I’m sure that’s a coincidence.

Edit: Ty to everyone who helped correct my misunderstanding. The feedback has been informative, but I’ll leave my comment as-is so people reading have context incase they also have misconceptions.

  • That’s the nature of language.

    Correct.

That is also NOT the definition

So your previous statement was that a specific (unstated) way of defining Good and Evil, while paired with our typical modern worldview implied that Good and Evil didn’t exist? I suppose you’re almost certainly correct if that’s the case, but I don’t find that to be a very interesting statement. The only other way I can interpret this is as a claim that there is exactly one definition of Good and Evil, and anyone who uses a different definition is wrong, but that strikes me as an utterly foolish position.

I wasn’t aware of Hume’s account of definition, but it strikes me as extremely straightforward.

The way you’ve argued thus far has made me believe you are likely young and ignorant. In this thread, you keep making statements that fail to address previous points. You replied to a statement about my position I made to a different user. I was talking about the role of genetics in psychology, and you brought up making predictions about behavior (which no one had mentioned) and then when I addressed your previous point hoping it might lead somewhere you started talking about empathy instead. How was I supposed to interpret that?

    predicting

    Empathy isn’t a behavior, it’s a basic cognitive function.

I have yet to see evidence of

Have you taken any psychology or neurology classes? I have. It’s not my field of specialty, but I got As in each where applicable. If you’re going to hold such a strong opinion on this, you should at least put in the effort to do some basic research, or better yet, get some education on the subject.
