I’ve disabled the native antivirus and Simplewall supposedly blocks most (if not all) of the Microsoft bloat

Outside of Jellyfin, the computers seem to communicate just fine. Transfer speeds are what I would expect and disk read/write is usually fine as well. Like I mentioned in the post, it self-resolved since I made the post. But my concern is the same: what could be causing the underlying issue? I’ll check the logs later and I’ll report back
Edit: forgot to mention that I have a few 5.1 SACDs @ 24/192k that have always completely choked my system. Doesn’t matter which machine or how extreme the transcoded settings are, it nukes the playback
I love the Jellyfin team so much
My plan is 500 gigs down, but my computer (Ethernet wired to the server) gets transferal speeds of about 4 megs down. Super cool
Thank you, I downloaded it
Jellyfin in the browser has been my preferred way to play media. I have the desktop app, but it constantly gets hung up on lossless music and movies over 480p. I could have screwed up a setting, but I don’t know
Thank you for asking, I’ve been thinking about this lately. Unfortunately, I don’t have an answer for you
I solved it, I’m an idiot. But thank you, Jellyfin’s official guide saved me.
No, it’s a Windows install on the server and the client. Hardware-wise, the server is overkill. My libraries are in several codecs and formats, and everything seemed to work indiscriminately until recently but I didn’t make any admin changes.
I set up transcoding according to the guide and enabled hardware acceleration, per user recommendation
That’s my current setup, but Signal gets no use because I can’t convince anyone to switch
So my server has been playing nice for the past couple days without issue. I didn’t change anything, but it’s suddenly working as intended. I’m not complaining, self-correcting issues are fine by me
Both, but the wired client is less frequent to hang ups
No, it happens from inside my house as well
On the app, I also have issues with Jellyfin sometimes not connecting too so I have no idea
Right, the problem is my phone when out of the house
I set up hardware acceleration and restarted the server, but its still happening. I’ve noticed it frequently happens on my desktop, but not so much on my phone
Good tip! I didn’t change the setting so it’s probably disabled. I’ll look at it when I get a chance, thanks
<10%, the hardware I’m running it on is overkill and this is its only task
So I checked the available logs after streaming a playlist for a while, which I’ve never done before (probably a huge mistake on my part). I have a generic “log_xxxxxxx.log” file that doesn’t seem to have any relevant info, but the only ffmpeg logs I have are related to video files from yesterday. Interestingly, the transcoding speeds seem to slow down over time; flac/wav files seem fine at first, but struggle to play after 30 minutes or so in a playlist of constant playback.
