JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Thanks to the "you need to buy a new PC for running W11" bullshit, scammers are selling ewaste at full price to inexperienced peopleEnglish2·3 months agoThat’s the way I fully got into it - started off on an old laptop and
manifestedcontinued from there.
It was posted to the Reddit thread (I too reached into the depths to find it).
JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•sharevb/it-tools: Collection of handy online tools for developers, with great UX.English1·7 months agoI just had a quick play around with it, HEIC converter is something I didn’t know I needed (I have a large backup from my iPhone which has HEICs), and I like the .eml parser just to name a couple.
I’ll be adding this to my server for sure. Thanks for sharing

From their café/picnic areaEnglish153·7 months agoHey ChatGPT, I’m a dork who works for a local council and we are cutting costs by removing two bins from a local forestry. Can you come up with a sign that spins the removal of these bins into a positive?

Shoe shopping is a nightmare.English3·7 months agoGranted I’m on my phone, but I’ve stared at this image for a solid minute and I can’t see the Photoshop artifacts. Can you hit us with the useless red circle or arrows?
It’s clearly a complete the CAPTCHA challenge.

JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Can you please start using the correct nameEnglish8·9 months agoThis is exactly how I feel when I use my TrackPoint and my colleague’s like “CALL IT WHAT IT IS, IT’S A NIPPLE”
JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•I still don't really get this whole Rednote thing but my daughter seems to be having funEnglish123·9 months agoI don’t get the hate comments here other than “hurr durr im on a morally superior social media and your daughter isn’t”. Yes, Rednote is a Chinese app with Chinese ideals, proprietary, non-free, foreign telemetry etc etc. but at the end of the day sounds like your daughter’s having fun on an app that’s not too indifferent from TikTok.
JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Time to make your decesionEnglish61·9 months agoYeah, my thoughts exactly, even before reading the comments. Yeah, it’s a shitpost, but “Oh, Wallace is considered bottom of the barrel because… he’s like 100?” Straight up ageism.
JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Not enough people buying Premium, eh?English11·10 months agoYeah, anything to make that line go up on YouTube’s end.
The latest tag still doesn’t support multiple audio tracks, which might sound niche, but YouTube just rolled out AI dubbed audio tracks, and so Invidious can just play the wrong track and you can’t do anything about it and it’s been this way for about a month.
That being said, it seems that the team’s plan is to put more dev time into changing the back end to video.js so they don’t have to brunt the video retrieval workload, and video.js supports multiple audio tracks as far as I know. I look forward to when that happens, but in the meantime the latest tag is not 100% usable :(
JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Not enough people buying Premium, eh?English6·10 months agoI’ve done this for about 6 months, I’ve had a very mixed experience with Invidious, mostly with YouTube constantly making changes without notice or the video stream not really supporting resuming if the connection breaks briefly.
This isn’t a comment on the Herculean effort the contributors are taking on, but new users should be aware that they need a very reliable connection, update the container regularly, and exercise patience in the current state of Invidious.

JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•This Google Photos popupEnglish2·1 year agoIt’s ridiculous, its enabled by default on any new device you set up and sign in to. I could have missed turning off iCloud on my iMac, but I didn’t have any problems before updating it, and then after I updated it I had iCloud full notifications, so I’m pretty sure it was off.
JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Please pick a password starting with ad and ending with minEnglish2·1 year agoI’m gonna be honest, for Vaultwarden I don’t. However, a local cached copy of the vault exists on all my devices that are signed in via the official Bitwarden client, and I have recovered using this method before, so that’s my backup strategy.
JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•This Google Photos popupEnglish271·1 year agoI was feeling smug that being on LineageOS and now GrapheneOS for almost a decade I’ve never seen this.
…then I remembered my fucking iMac seemed to turn on iCloud photo backup last week after updating and next thing I know all the obsolete iPads I get from work are telling me how my iCloud storage is full
Seriously this iCloud shit is on by default, predatory ass tech companies. I’m pretty sure I disabled it on that iMac but it’s so possible that my own device can gaslight me that I’m left unsure. It’s off now and I spent an afternoon removing all those photos.

JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Please pick a password starting with ad and ending with minEnglish10·1 year agoI just double checked and I have TOTP enabled for my PayPal account so it should be an option.
I just found this support article of theirs and it says it can only be enabled through their website and not through the app (why?!) so you might be running into that?
JustARegularNerd@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Please pick a password starting with ad and ending with minEnglish2·1 year agoYeah, I probably would have gone with that solution if I knew about it at the time, but now that I have Vaultwarden I’m pretty happy with it.
I think the work of saving and preserving these files en-masse is important, but spamming on random threads isn’t the way.
All it serves to do is detract from the original discussion for those this appeals to, and frustrates everyone else, watering down the very message you’re trying to put out there.
This could be a post on many relevant Lemmy communities and probably do well on the majority of them, thus achieving that mission without polluting Lemmy with spam that adds nothing to the current conversation.
