I never realized the tattoos were photoshopped.
I assumed they used a random stock photo that had a convenient pose to add the shirt onto, that happened to have a tattoo.
Of course, I also figured using a photo with too much ink would 1) distract from the merchandise and 2) make the stock photo model too recognizable. (Oh, they clearly used Getty #8675309, “Fat White Guy With Mediocre Barbed Wire Tattoo”), but plenty of the pics are identifiable enough to use for a police report.
I guess the assumption is more that for me, a fresh install is often about decluttering as much as anything-- the five Wayland compositors, three music players, and six pseudo-IDEs I tried and didn’t like don’t need to follow me to the next build.
In a conventional install, that just means “don’t check the checkbox in the installer next time”. In a Nix-style system, this is a conscious process of actively deciding to remove things from the stored configuration, no?
I suppose the closest I’ve gotten was recently migrating my setup from a desktop to a new laptop. Mostly copying over some config from my home directory, but even then, I wanted enough different stuff-- removing tools I don’t use on the laptop, adding things like battery monitoring and Wi-Fi control-- that it involved some reconfiguration.
I suspect the tooling isn’t quite there yet for desktop use cases.
If I were to try to replicate my current desktop in an immutable model, it would involve a lot of manual labour in scripting or checkpointing every time I installed or configured something, to save a few hours of labour in 2 years time when I get a new drive or do a full install.
The case is easier for defined workload servers and dev environments that are regularly spun up fresh.
I wonder now about the social norms of the “default” versions of things in replicators.
Would you go on one ship and “soft drink” is Pepsi and another Coke, like venues today? How is it negotiated?
Or do you spend your life building and refining a profile? How is that carried around?

MTP is awfully slow on my Nokia G20 at least. OTOH, it has a uSD slot so I could just pop it out and transfer that way.

With American comics, it’s not even the shattered continuity, it’s that availability is a mess because some of the franchises are so ancient and collectible.
If I want to read through One Piece from the 1997 start, my library probably has/can inter-library loan all 105 volumes, or I can go to mainstream retailers and get any I’m missing without a huge fracas.
If I want to read Batman from the 1940 start, I’d better hope some of the rarer issues come up at auction in the near future AND that I can mortgage my house to afford them.
I’m amazed they never put out a DVD-ROM collection that’s “Everything Marvel/DC did prior to, say, 1990, as PDF scans” just so mere mortals have a chance to enjoy the experience of completionism.
After wrecking some JIS screws on a vintage reciever, I bought a nice Vessel-brand JIS driver set, and use it for all my crosshead needs.

We only got a Wii because it was useful for physical therapy for a family member with motion problems. Thry used one at his PT centre, so we obtained one once they became readily available, and he used it at home for years, at least kong enough that you could use it for Netflix with a specific disc. With the Fit board, it provides some activities with more feedback and interactivity.
ARM was designed because the 6502 was approaching end of viability, and Acorn (the maker of the BBC Microcomputer) needed a next-gen product. At the time, RISC was the trendy thing, and I suspect the 286 and 68000 were too expensive to adapt for their products; they weren’t pushing £5000+ workstations like IBM or Unix vendors.
It was light and small because they had a small team; low power was a happy accident.
No wonder DEC went broke. My VT220 didn’t come with any hunks crawling out of the screen Ringu style.
If they’re so awful, why do we need aggressive tarrifs to keep them off of American streets? I don’t think anyone was making people buy them over domestic alternatives…

I have a similar one, different seller and possibly submodel, but also a refurb HGST 12T enterprise drive. It sounds like I left a soda on my desk most of the time, subtly popping and ticking.
