Alaska, a red state, is reportedly trying to remove their rank choice voting. This isn’t a “Dems” problem, it’s a two party problem.
Even if state and local elections are ranked choice, the presidential election will still be a first past the post election and the electoral college is still designed for a two party system.
Well, for almost a decade the GOP has had time to come up with their vision. They ran on “Repeal and Replace” in the 2016 cycle. But when it came time to vote to repeal, they still didn’t have a replace option.
Prices didn’t go down when the 2018 tax cuts reduced corporate tax by about 30%, I doubt when the ACA gets repealed and insurance companies can drop the uninsurable people they will lower the prices for healthy Americans, because they are already anchored at the higher price.
Technically that’s true, because it changed the law where you can’t be denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions, but I’m guessing OP means he uses the marketplace thingy instead of having insurance provided by work.
(Also, the affordable care act didn’t force you to have insurance, it was a tax penalty to not have insurance, but the 2018 tax act set that penalty to $0)
From my time on Reddit years ago this question came up.
Some cashier’s said they reciprocate the exchange back to the customer. If the customer puts cash on the counter for them to pick up, they’ll put the change on the counter in return.
There also was probably some new training from covid where you didn’t want to touch people directly, so those training materials probably still exist
My guess is no one is willing to take on the liability. Any new system that introduces bugs or introduces attack vectors from hackers don’t want to be responsible for any lost money and I’m sure banks/insurance don’t want to take on the risk either.
Magnetic tape and clearing houses for the indefinite future!
Our company pays for TeamViewer, and I still get nagged all the time, so there’s no point in giving them money, they still nag you all the time.
Gas discounts are pretty small.
At least for Kroger, you get $0.03 baseline with no discount. After you spend $100, you get one fill up with $0.10 discount up to 35 gallons. My vehicle in particular has 11 gallons. So my maximum discount is $1.10, up from base line $0.33 discount. $1.10 discount per $100 spent is barely worth it.
Even if you used all 35 gallons, that’s $3.50 discount per $100 spent.
So if you have a massive vehicle that takes 35 gallons, you can save $35 off the fill up after you spend $1000 in the store. Could you have saved that $35 by shopping at a different grocery store?
What if eat meat and just don’t have kids? Sounds like I get to be selfish and think about the environment at the same time
I always squint at meat products that claim something like “made with 100% real chicken.” Yeah okay, there is chicken in there, but how much of the food consists of that 100% real chicken?
Isnt that how all social media sites start out. Starts with nerd culture and eventually other people come in later?
That’s not a perfect use case for it. That’s a central authority (venue) selling tickets to anyone who wants to buy them. But instead of using a local database and approving transfers from person to person and losing the ability to reverse transactions due to fraud, it’s hosted in the wild west of crypto.
There’s nothing stopping a venue from offering your perfect use case in a centralized system, but they outsource it to Ticketmaster (namely because Ticketmaster owns like 80% of music venues or something) so they don’t have to deal with it.
Your scenario outsources it to the block chain, who will charge gas for the transactions instead of ticketmaster charging fees.
I don’t know the value in a decentralized IP rights system. If the key holder gets phished, you can lose your rights to a TV series you’ve been working on. (Like Seth Greene)
He wouldn’t have lost it and had to pay back the ransom in a traditional contract. Having a contract centralized and enforced by the legal system has many perks and I can’t ever see how a decentralized rights platform can enforce itself.

but seriously, any time some one says they use the J sound, they explain by spelling it JIF. It’s just a joke though. No one cares how you pronounce it.
An example of a word where spelling it correctly doesn’t convey how to pronounce it is colonel
Garage had two Gs, both pronounced different.
Both are correct, imo. However, it’s hard to stand by that when you have to spell it JIF for people to know you are using the J variation of G.
House for $105k that needs flooring and some appliances, so let’s call it $125k. There’s a choice. You probably don’t want to move to Oklahoma though.
There are trade offs for wanting to live near a city or somewhere popular or close to family. Yeah rental rates suck and home prices are climbing, and soon the cheap homes in the Midwest will start to keep up with the other states.
You know what your tenant get for paying your mortgage?
A place to live? If you need to move, all you have to do is break the lease? I agree that rental rates are artificially high, but to act like there is no value in renting is silly.
A 50% tax on land value would be cheaper than my current tax rate on my home xD
