Been a few months but I just got around to doing a solid setup of Navidrome. Just wanted to say thanks again because your detailed app breakdown saved me tons of time and headaches. Much appreciated!

Thank you for the info.

Thanks for the info. Kind of confirms there are better ways about this that I should look into. But also confirms that it works well enough because sometimes I just want to play music on my TV as I do house chores.

Anybody using jellyfin for their music? I never tried it because some initial comments said it was bad, but it looks like they’ve been improving it.

Oh, I fully agree the price is too high for 6 year old hardware.
I was looking at the Vero that another comment recommended. That looks promising to me. I’ve only done initial looks but that’s probably the route I’d go if I need to buy today.
Google streamer is cheaper, but paying extra to keep google out of my life is OK by me. Just personal preference.

I’m using the shield non pro (tube) with the wolf launcher and it works fine overall. Occasionally it’ll freeze up and I need to hard boot it.
I’m fairly confident the shield line is dead at this point so I’m not waiting on it. When my tube dies out on me I’ll figure something else out. I’m here checking out what others are doing so I can slowly research and set a game plan in advance.
But I don’t expect that time to come soon. Its not like the thing is under high load since my home media is running on a different box. I also suspect if I factory reset my tube it’ll fix my random bugs and negate the need for something new.
Most millenials I deal with don’t know how anything works. They know apps and swiping screens. They are computer competent, knowing how to use them. Like knowing how to drive a car doesn’t mean you are a mechanic. They frequently know how do basic fixes like rebooting or reinstalling but less frequently have any true troubleshooting understanding. I don’t claim all millenials are like that, but broad stroke its not uncommon. I’d never say the generation as a whole is THE technical one though. I know more Gen Z that are technical by far, but that seems more matching Gen X to me. They either know technology or don’t. Nothing in between.

…and that is how I quit smoking.
It didn’t help that the next post in my feed also had to do with an S… So I thought I missed something in current events.

I’m similarly testing Proton at the moment. I tried it at launch, and it was…less than impressive. It worked, but was lacking some features (the details of which I don’t quite remember) and they didn’t have a separate password for Pass vs the rest of their app suite which was a deal breaker for me (which of course they have now).
Testing it now, I’m liking the experience better than Bitwarden overall. There’s some idiosyncrasies between the two I prefer over the other, but nothing deal breaking.
I haven’t found a reason to not switch over, other than the “all eggs in one basket” argument, which is valid but I think I’m OK with.

It hurts to even read that. I can’t even imagine your frustration.

The stupider part is that it would be easier to stack out from the other direction.
There are 8 pieces of wood @ 1.5" each = 12" Studs are 16" on center.
So to stack from the right would be 2 pieces to be in the same place.
You can even see the gray box that opens to the wall behind it. That is attached to the stud on the right…its that close. But here I go applying logic to crazy.
Well no, the intent is not to inconvenience others, but to not inconvenience yourself.
I love animals. Dogs, cats, rabbits, whatever. Love them all. I’m highly allergic to most of them though.
As a customer of an establishment, why do I need to deal with the animal that belongs to another customer of the establishment? And I’m not being a jerk. I’m not complaining or making a fuss, but if I’m trying to buy toilet paper I shouldn’t need to worry about hair, dander, or if somebody’s dog is well behaved or not. I am the one being inconvenienced, and there doesn’t seem to be a good reason for it.
That goes to the point of the comment you replied to. And to your point, if nobody else is being bothered… Are they checking if others are being bothered? Usually not. That’s a generalization but I can say in my experience it’s true more often than not (and I notice when it is). I’m not saying to ban pets in stores, but it should not be the norm and expect others to just deal with it.

This is gold
I mean, I’m sure you’re right but it’s buggy as shit on Windows too.

Lmao, I’m right there with you. Was looking at privacy type stuff so went to .ml. Thought the communist thing was weird, but hey people are weird, whatever. I guess I’m that naive.

Just a tad late. Should have been posted on 4/26. (Which is “alien day” because the planet is LV426)

In it’s roots, yes. But the architecture isn’t banned, just the chips. As an analogy, China can make its own internal combustion engines and not buy Ford cars.
I learned it as: Why do seagulls fly by the sea? Because if they flew by the bay they’d be bagels.
I think the flow is nicer and leads the listener down the path “logically”. Saying bay in the question tips your hand and is less of a surprise.
But still one of my favorite classics.
