this typo makes me unreasonably happy, and i have no idea why! it’s just so…whimsical! :D
9bananas@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•He's so negative. He's so weird.English6·5 months agois there a modern equivalent that describes “i function differently from NTs, but am generally able to live my life without special accomodations”?
because i’ve been described as high functioning and never really thought much about it, but the nazi connection is…uncomfortable…

but if a greedy little pig-boy wants something gone, THAT matters.
excellent, that was very helpful! thanks!
thank you, that’s exactly what i wanted to know!
don’t wanna fight, but i do want some clarification:
were they actually warm blooded, or that pseudo warm blooded thing some reptiles and fish do where they aren’t exactly warm ir cold blooded, but kinda in-between?
u/fuckswithducks, that you?
9bananas@lemmy.worldto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Just because you're a slob at home do you have to be an inconsiderate slob in public4·7 months ago“women’s only cars” aren’t really much of a thing… there’s like, a handful of places in the entire world that have them; they’re super rare.
there’s a whole sub-community around building physics exploit driven crafts:
look up “kraken drives” ;)
that’s the important caveat:
it does NOT work on everyone, but that’s irrelevant.
if it works on even 1% of people, but has zero effect on everyone else, companies would still use it everywhere anyways.
a 1% difference over even just a couple thousand customers adds up over time.
so, no, it doesn’t work on everyone, and it doesn’t have to.
it just has to work on some people, and not deter any more people than it works on.
if anyone wonders when it does and does not work: like most of these psych-tricks the effect mostly disappears when you point it out to people or otherwise make them actively think about what they’re buying.
same for the change-the-layout-of-the-store-all-the-time thing: doesn’t work on all people, doesn’t have to.

I'm getting hiveminded more and more everyday, did my opinions get worse, or is this actually a thing now?2·8 months agopretty sure because there’s a bunch of amateur porn communities, and people generally stop posting pics of themselves if they get downvoted.
so, since downvotes literally kill those communities, they added the ability to not display downvotes.
my only gripe with this is, that it’s apparently an instance-wide toggle, which is a bit inconvenient…
aber “DU”, da geht noch was!

except:
- lots of land
- feed (which requires a LOT of land)
- massive amounts of water
- insane amounts of antibiotics and assorted other medicine
- stupid amounts of electricity
- etc.
raising cattle on a commercial scale requires mind boggling resources!
every single study on environmental impacts of food production lists beef as the number 1 worst food source in terms of environmental impacts period.
“Raising cattle doesn’t require anything.” - yeah, in fantasy land.
in case you actually want to know the answer:
it’s the avocado being shipped. and by, like, a mile and a half. it’s not even close.
raising cattle is the single most energy, water, and CO2 intensive food production there currently is.

not sure about the space age…maybe titanium age? that’s about the time we figured out how to machine titanium on large scales, and for highly specialized, extreme applications (talking about the SR-71 here, mostly). could also call it the alloy age, since a number of important alloys were discovered around that time
“debunking” requires a source… otherwise they just put forth a claim
