Where I come from wishing a happy new year before new year curses people and calls the most dangerous demons your mind can image.

I know this from my grandma, when I was a kid (about 6 years old) and wished her a happy new year she told me to never do that again because the demons near our house will haunt her and chop her head off and I will have to remove the bloodbath that my brother and I might have caused with a toothbrush. She warned us not to go to grandpa and wish him anything or else he will put us in the cold shower and whoop us with a belt.

It was 45 years ago, it’s how we grew up :-)

Since then we never wish happy new year earlier then needed :-) But we learned our lesson.
