Pebble Time 2 Production Update: We’re in the Production Verification Test (PVT) phase right now, the last stop before Mass Production (MP).

Entering PT2 Mass Production on March 9.

Based on current schedule, the first mass production PT2s will arrive on wrists during the beginning of April. We should wrap up delivering all pre-ordered Pebble Time 2s two months later by the beginning of June.

It looks like Index 01 has a 2 year (24 month) battery. Apple airpods, while rechargable, have a unit life of 36 months or as short as 18 months (with heavy use).

I assume, following the same logic, airpods would be unethical? If so, in your opinion, how long should a device last before it wouldn’t be unethical?

Airpods batteries can be replaced, and parts are available on ifixit.

Index isn’t released yet, so maybe there will be a ifixit page created for them. but if the silver oxide batteries are as bad as the ones my mom’s hearing aids use, I can’t see this thing lasting more than a year.

They are unethical because they’re hard to repair, but cam be used after discharging, while the ring will just become trash.

The two years will only be reachable by using it little, which defeats its purpose, as well.

No matter what, whether it’s pebble or apple, non-serviceable batteries are “atrocious” and “unethical”. While expected from apple; it would be nice to expect more from pebble.
