I am an American, I’ve never been “proud” of my country, pride is something weird. The United States still generates the most electricity from nuclear power, and we’re starting to build more now, that’s something good.

You don’t need Google’s permission to host your own web application. Browsers and the internet are awesome. The Google play store is a nuisance and I look forward to the day when I can have a Linux distribution running on my phone with everything I need.
Damn, what EV do you have? I have a '23 Bolt and I only see about a 30% reduction in efficiency in below freezing. The performance of mine in winter was fair, and even in blizzard conditions in Chicago at 20F it still got the job done. But yea, the heater will consume a lot of battery regardless. Charging is my only concern, and that’s solved by the fact that I have a supercharger not too far I can use once a week early in the morning for cheap $0.35 per kWh.
My EV doesn’t freeze and die in winter and can be parked outside on the street for a week without me needing to leave the apartment. Just imagining riding a horse in an extremely cold spring rain hurts to think about.

There’s nothing stopping you from creating a room for that and inviting people.

In hindsight the accounts counter was incorrect it was adding up all the accounts from every room without considering that many of the same accounts come from different rooms. I’ll have to add a deeper tracker which I don’t think is necessary to track individual accounts, outside of the scope of the activity tracker.

Glad to hear it, if you have any suggestions please let me know.

I think it will, another reason I built this, because new people coming to matrix will need a way to browse rooms more easily.

The biggest problem I’ve noticed is that the amount of “Members” is displayed in clients, but so many rooms have a lot of “Members” but no real activity. Which is what this tracker attempts to solve by looking at actual chat messages and timestamps.

Yea I have, and that’s exactly why I created this. Finding them without this tool would have been really annoying. Here’s a screenshot of the top 12h rooms:

Right now they are pretty diverse. The two most active I recommend starting off in if you’re English speaking are #envs_lounge:matrix.org and #anime:matrix.org
This is the one I made https://matrix.to/#/#all-topics:matrix.org before I created the activity tracker and realized there were several others.

I’m calling the lenders greedy. BNPL is similar to payday loans, taking advantage of people who don’t have money, making it cost more to be poor. The people who use BNPL are just being taken advantage of and suffer because of their situation.

It really should be called “buy now, pay more later”. When are these greedy fucks going to learn that it’s not good when consumers don’t have money to spend? If all their money goes towards interest payments then we see a collapse in demand.

as consumers looked for greater flexibility in managing their holiday budgets
Yea, that’s a really nice way to put it.

To provide more context, over half the mall is empty at this point, it’s been a trend. Just over the last month three places closed, so it feels like it’s been accelerating. There are several retail outlets that I’m almost certain are about to close like Foot Locker.

Oh that’s a good idea, I wonder about the insurance though.

I think the only way it would work is if I got an amazing lease deal cheap, and was able to get a spot near one of the entrances. A bit of a far fetched idea, but it makes sense to me, especially because the only reason I visit it is because there’s an electric vehicle charger near by. With EV sales growing, and demand for charging infrastructure, it could bring more foot traffic. The thing is to avoid doing anything that someone can just get on Amazon or at Walmart.

Awesome, yea I’m starting to feel like there may be a small window of opportunity. A couple of other small stores have closed as well, and there’s no coffee shop in the mall, or anywhere close in the surrounding area. It’s a bit tempting.
I’m so glad that the USB-C connector is reversible. Just think about the couple seconds it’s taken trying to plug into a USB-A the wrong way, having to flip it over to plug it in properly. Now multiply that by the billions of attempts over time, very detrimental.
I look forward to seeing more electric leaf blowers. Sure they have a bit of an annoying high pitched whine when you’re close by, but you’re not going to hear it more than 5 meters away. I’ve also been seeing more electric lawn mowers which are also much quieter.
Land value tax and unrealized capital gains tax.
