The burger is definitely healthier than the cigarette.
Coffee for the win though… all those complex alkaloids and polyphenols…
It’s the extra tar that makes the Gailoises so smoooooooth…
Exactly. Chances are at that height it’s gone to seed and is now hemp.
Oooo, that looks like headaches, not highs.
A lot of reforms post Vietnam were made to make sure that the US military didn’t need to draft.
Selective Service would like a word with you.
An all-volunteer military isn’t that ironclad an outcome. I can certainly see service being used to leverage young men and of course “inform” them with nationalistic propaganda.
Oh, don’t you know it.
If half of what cunts like Hegseth and President Miller want to do become action, this country is in for a rough time of it… starting with everyone under 27. :(

5·5 days agoI got something similar. I ask if they have need of the spider man suit and to bring the harness and lube and I’ll bring the Bad Dragon to peg them with.
Funny, but they never reply. I really, really, want to peg them. :(
Just wait - Millennials and Gen-Z - until there’s a war and an active draft in the US again.
Venezuela anyone? (Dear God, I hope not but the current asshat in the Oval Orfice seems bent on taking a page from the Monroe Doctrine and adding teeth. Gotta justify Kegsbreath’s trillion dollar DOD budget plans after all…)
Shit’s gonna get VERY real and you may gain a bit of insight as to why 'boomers just gave up and “went condo” as they used to say.
This is indeed a shit post. Make it so.

12·7 days agoNGL, wind up analog clocks are useful in places where the power goes out often. I have a 7-day grandfather clock and it’s been a godsend when northeasters turn into ice storms that take down the power for days…

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Did it really used to be common for guys to go to a bar every night like in Cheers or The Simpsons?
20·8 days agoYeah. My husband went out to the pub 6 nights a week. He’s no longer drinking - quit last year - finally! (I quit in 2009)
Seriously, alcohol is overrated.

4·14 days agoOMG, yes… Poor Roman Brady on Days of Our Lives… He was made and remade - though granted, Drake Hogestyn did a bang-up job as Roman/John Black.
I’d say Elon Musk. He threw how many millions at Trump’s presidential run thinking Don would return the favor once he was president…
So how’d that work out for you, Elon?

11·17 days agoThis place (old.lemmy.zip) is downright chill. Then again, I just came off Reddit (after 14 years there…) and that is in full rage-bait algorithm-driven meltdown. Feels like Reddit in 2010 here. Just lovely…
