On my very first day on Lemmy, I couldn’t see the comments to most posts. Luckily I found an answer to this problem that was posted over 2 years ago: I forgot to select additional languages to just “Undetermined.”

I just skimmed over the texts on the settings page and assumed “undetermined” works like with other social media sites: if I don’t select anything, it shows me every language. And as communities are usually formed around a single language, it didn’t seem important. This isn’t the case with Lemmy. Undetermined is its own language, not a wildcard for all languages.

When users don’t know how multiselect works on desktop web, they probably end up with just one language selected and miss every post that has no language set.

It’s very strange.

I have seen pictures and videos about these strange design decisions. But I don’t know if the guests simply accepted their fate or if they complained.

I wouldn’t want to pay full price for a room with missing bathroom doors. Or a window in the wall to the bathroom.

All you people who were hating on racists on Twitter, you were hating on foreigners!! 🙃

Sounds like a bug. 24 users don’t write 1269 posts and 1867 comments.

Discouraging users from reporting content could potentially be against the Apple App Store guide. I don’t understand why Reddit is doing that.

I don’t think O.J. Simpson’s lawyer’s family was ever poor.

I reported a post and was then reported by mods for “report abuse”. There’s no explanation what this even is. An admin said “when you know, you know”is the whole definition. So I received a few days suspension. But the mods removed the post. Appeal was ignored.

Now mods and admins are gaslighting everyone into thinking that there’s no problem. Despite there being complaints by multiple people (including some mods) for years now.
