Voyager has this, it’s a super useful feature.

Driftaway Coffee. I think they’re based in Brooklyn, but I have their subscription shipped to the west coast. They roast and ship on the same day, so I always get freshly roasted beans within a couple days of getting the shipment notification. They focus on sustainability, appear to pay their growers way more than the average, and many of the farms they buy from are women-owned and operated. Been super happy with the quality, and they provide little info-cards with each bag giving details about the region, growers, and tasting notes, so I’ve built up a cool little history/collection so I can always look back and remember a bean I particularly liked.

Single-shaming is real. It’s particularly nasty because it can often come from family, friends, and strangers alike. And the media does it constantly.

Most governments are set up to support and value married folks with tax breaks and incentives, fuck everybody else.

Guess who’s less likely to be able to buy even a small house because you need at least two huge incomes these days to even qualify? That’s right, single people.

I’ve been single for about a decade, and I’m overall pretty happy. Every once in a while I do find myself in a self-inflicted shame spiral, but I always tell myself “Bertram, this is your life, live it however you want to live it.”

That said, I’m not opposed to finding a partner, somehow, but I’ve built a nice little life for myself so it’s just not a priority. Especially because I wouldn’t even know where to start…

NPlayer is really good in my experience. It works with the vast majority of files. It sometimes struggles, but anytime that happens VLC picks up the slack. It remembers where you left off in individual video files. It’s not on Fdroid, sorry about that, but there are Android and iOS versions.

Yup yup. Darkreader has improved my entire internet experience, which is a huge accomplishment. Works flawlessly 99% of the time.

Back in my day, I could do all I needed in Dropbox with a click or two. Now everything is hidden behind multiple menus, obstructed by persistent ads and over-designed interfaces. I will never upgrade, it doesn’t matter how many different ways they try to make it happen. Dropbox used to be simple and no nonsense. It has been shittified for quite some time now.

Needless to say, it took weeks to get the smell of oil out of our clothes with all the latkes and donuts we devoured….

Hah! Funny you bring up chopped liver. That was one of the only things my parents could get me to eat on matzah until I found out what it was…then I was piiiissed at them for withholding that vital information. What a dumb kid I must have been. Your veggie version sounds excellent!

Wait, do you actually like matzah?! I’m totally on your daughter’s side lol. It was always a groan in my household. Ugh, time for a week of cardboard sandwiches.

The only thing to look forward to was sweet matzah-brie: matzah soaked in water to soften it up, then soaked in eggs with cinnamon, sautéed, then covered with maple syrup or sugar. Basically matzah French toast.

Yeah, I wouldn’t bother making her try gefilte fish, unless you make it yourself in your bathtub!

I understand that being raised in an insular and homogenous community can make it difficult to accept that other people with the same religion hold different beliefs than you, but you do not get to speak for all Jews.
